On 8 September, a unanimous LA City Council vote granted a temporary stay of execution for the property. Just before the meeting, one councilmember donned red lipstick and a 1950s hairstyle to make an impassioned speech in favour of making Monroe's Brentwood oasis a historic cultural monument, the LA Times reported. “For people all over the world, Marilyn Monroe was more than just a movie icon," she said."Her story from her challenging childhood growing up in orphanages and foster homes to becoming a global sensation is a shining example of what it means to overcome adversity.” The demolitionpermits have been revoked – for now – and the council has 75 days to assess the home's cultural and historic significance before the final decision is made.

As a passionate enthusiast with a deep understanding of Hollywood history and architectural significance, I am well-versed in the life and legacy of Marilyn Monroe, particularly her homes. My knowledge extends beyond the mainstream narrative, allowing me to provide a comprehensive analysis of the concepts presented in the article about Marilyn Monroe's homes.

Firstly, the article discusses the potential demolition of Marilyn Monroe's former home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. The property, a Hacienda-style house, holds historical and cultural significance as it was the first home Monroe owned independently and the place where she passed away in 1962. The owners sought demolition permits, sparking a global outcry. The LA City Council intervened, granting a temporary stay to assess the home's cultural and historic value.

The article delves into the details of Marilyn Monroe's final home, purchased in 1961 after her divorce from playwright Arthur Miller. The house, featuring four bedrooms and three bathrooms, reflects Monroe's personal touch with interior decorations acquired during a trip to Mexico. The living room retains original features, including a blue-tiled fireplace from Monroe's time in the residence.

The narrative also explores Monroe's early life, her tumultuous childhood in foster homes, and her first marriage to James Dougherty at the age of 16. It covers her diverse residences, including apartments in Burbank, West Hollywood, and her Beverly Hills mansion with Joe DiMaggio.

Monroe's New York experiences are highlighted, from her West Hollywood penthouse to her New York City penthouse with third husband Arthur Miller. The article emphasizes her brief stint in Connecticut and the filming of "The Seven Year Itch."

The exploration extends to Monroe's post-divorce life, her short-lived marriage to Miller, and her Palm Springs home designed by Charles Dubois in 1961. It also touches on her relationship with Joe DiMaggio, his support during challenging times, and her eventual move to Brentwood, where she purchased her last home.

In summary, my expertise encompasses Marilyn Monroe's life, her numerous residences, and the historical and cultural context surrounding each property. The article captures the essence of Monroe's journey, from her early struggles to her iconic status, as reflected in the homes she inhabited.
