Wrestling veteran Matt Hardy might not be a free agent for much longer.
Hardy’s AEW contract expired earlier this month and he opted not to renew it, choosing to enter free agency instead. Speaking on his podcast "The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy" on Friday, the wrestler said that he has been in talks with both AEW and WWE recently.
“I am doing what I should be doing as a free agent, creating hype around myself,” Hardy said, as transcribed by Fightful. “Yes, I have been speaking with AEW constantly. I have been speaking with WWE. I have been speaking with several people across several different platforms. So I think the next couple weeks are gonna be fun, the next few weeks are gonna be fun. As I said before, I think we’re getting to the point where we’re gonna be doing some pretty cool stuff coming up.”
Hardy added that he is enjoying being a free agent and is in no rush to sign a contract.
In December, Hardy said he experienced “a lot of frustration” with how he and his brother Jeff had been used in AEW. Matt only wrestled two matches for the company between when he made those comments and when his contract expired. Jeff has wrestled four times for AEW since Matt’s contract expired, but not since Feb. 14.
