Reasons to Install Metal Roofing Snow Guards

  • Safety of People
  • Outdoor Protector
  • Roof Care
  • Less Maintenance

  • Safety of People

Protecting People Below the Roof

The most important reason why metal roof snow stops are recommended is for the safety of people. There is a possibility that at the moment of an avalanche from the roof, someone may be standing under it.

In an avalanche, huge layers of snow weighing hundreds of pounds can fall from the roof of a building. This huge mass of snow can cause serious or even fatal injury to a person. This is very dangerous therefore, it is strongly recommended to take care of the safety of those who live in the house. When it comes to tall industrial and public buildings, the installation of snow guards is a must. This protects all passers-by on the street.

  • Outdoor Protector

Protect Property with Snow Stops

Similarly, the rapidly descending snow layer from the roof can damage everything outside the house. Just imagine what would happen to your car if a 500 pounds lump of snow and ice falls on it from the roof. At best, it will be subject to major repairs.

The same can happen with other elements of your yard. Installing metal roof snow stops will keep shrubs, landscape, and other equipment close to the roof intact.

  • Roof Care

Protecting Multi-Level Roofs

Among other things, even the roof itself can be damaged due to the lack of snow guards. Siding and gutters can be torn off under the pressure of the snow. When spring comes, repairing that damage can hit your budget seriously. Since many modern roofs are multi-level, sliding snow can easily damage the lower level of the roof. Although metal roofs are very strong, a massive avalanche can damage ventilation holes, bend sheets of cover and smash skylights.

Loss of roof integrity can destroy the inner layers of the coating, and the ingress of water will cause dampness in your home. This is very serious damage and fortunately, it does not happen often, nevertheless, it is worth understanding the possible risks of the absence of metal roof snow guards.

  • Less Maintenance

Reduce Yearly Maintenance Expenses

As we mentioned above, the presence of metal roof guards allows you to preserve the integrity of all its parts. Based on this, it is worthwhile to understand that this can have a positive effect on your budget. The absence of the need for seasonal maintenance and repairs can save you up to $2000 per year.

  • Home Value

Smart Investment for Sellers

When selling a home, the presence of metal roof ice stops can increase its value. If you have a new snow protection system installed then this will be a great additional feature.

Correctly communicating information to the buyer will help you to increase the selling price of your home.

What are metal roof snow guards?

Metal roof snow guards, also known as snow brackets or snow retention systems, are devices installed on metal roofs to help prevent snow and ice from sliding off in large sheets. They are designed to hold the accumulated snow in place, allowing it to melt or be removed gradually, reducing the risk of sudden snow slides that can pose a danger to people or property below.

Why are snow guards important for metal roofs?Admin2024-03-07T11:44:55+00:00

Why are snow guards important for metal roofs?

Snow guards are important for metal roofs because metal roofs have a smooth surface that allows snow and ice to slide off quickly and forcefully, which can be hazardous. Snow guards provide an obstruction that holds the snow in place, preventing sudden slides and protecting areas such as entryways, walkways, or landscaping from potential damage caused by falling snow or ice.

How do metal roof snow guards work?Admin2024-03-07T11:44:36+00:00

How do metal roof snow guards work?

Metal roof snow guards work by creating friction and holding the snow in place. They are typically installed in strategic locations along the roof, where snow accumulation tends to be heaviest. Snow guards can be designed in various shapes and configurations to accommodate different roof types and snow load requirements. When properly installed, they allow snow to gradually melt or be safely removed.

Do metal roof snow guards require maintenance?Admin2024-03-07T11:44:18+00:00

Do metal roof snow guards require maintenance?

Metal roof snow guards generally do not require extensive maintenance. However, it’s recommended to inspect them periodically, especially after severe weather events, to ensure they are still securely fastened and in good condition. If any damage or loosening is observed, repairs or replacements may be necessary. Regular roof inspections and maintenance should also be conducted to identify any potential issues related to snow guards or the overall roof system.

Are Snow Guards Prevent Snow from Falling Completely off the Roof?Admin2024-03-07T11:44:02+00:00

Are Snow Guards Prevent Snow from Falling Completely off the Roof?

Metal roof ice guards are designed to protect against avalanches from the roof. This means that they block large layers of ice and snow and prevent them from falling off the roof. However, small pieces and splashes may seep through the protection.

These pieces are not dangerous and in most cases, they end up in gutters where they melt with the coming of spring. The main layer of snow and ice lingers on snow stops and leaves the roof in the form of meltwater.

Kevin and his team were professional and extremely easy to work with!I had a raccoon try to break into my house through the roof, which left me with a major water leak on a very rainy day! Kevin, the owner of the company, went above and beyond to get me some emergency assistance within a few hours to prevent any further damage in my home. Kevin provided me with guidance and advice on how to minimize these incidents happening again and within a few days, they had installed a new metal roof on my home. The 2 teams that came out ensured everything was installed properly and did so in a timely manner. Kevin communicated everything throughout the process and provided great customer service, and when I had any concerns he was there to answer any questions I had. I would highly recommend Kevin and his team if you ever need anything roof related!

When it was time to replace my roof, I researched many different companies and found Monarchy Roofing to be the most professional, reasonable, and efficient. From the first time that I met Kevin he took the time to walk me through the process - from beginning to end- informing me of the type of materials used, washers, screws and bolts as well as the type and grade of steel that would be used on my roof. The price that I was quoted for the job was fair, and as mentioned before, reasonable. I am extremely pleased with the results. The job was completed in the time frame that Kevin set out and the installers were very professional and detailed oriented, making sure that there were no rough edges, and that the work area was pristine when they left for the evening.I know of other family members who need to get their roof done, and I will gladly recommend Kevin and the Monarchy Roofing team.

Kevin and the crew of Monarchy Roofing are amazing. My wife and I always wanted a steel roof but it wasn't in the budget when we moved into our home 6 yrs ago. About a year and a half ago we had started getting quotes to replace our aging asphalt roof and reached out to many different companies that offered both Steel and asphalt roof options. Kevin from Monarchy was always the first one to respond to my questions and not just with a sales pitch but with options and when I did ask for a quote he was very fair and detailed while some others ignored my calls and emails or were very generic in their response.A year passed and we were ready to proceed with a roof and I reached out to Kevin again. I was expecting an increase in the quote I recieved with everything going on in the world but was surprised when he stated his costs hadn't changed so the quote was the same as it was over a year ago.My wife and I booked an appointment to come and see the styles of material and again Kevin was very helpful showing us options and giving us all the information we needed to go ahead with the style we liked. We have a deposit in March and was told we would have our installation by July as materials have to be ordered for the style we picked. Was good for us.Coming closer to our install date Kevin kept us informed of the process and the time it would take to install (roughly 5 days weather dependent). The third week of July finally arrived and the two installers arrived to start the installation. The team was very courteous , respectful and very thorough. 5 days later we had a brand new steel roof which we love. The crew showed up on time everyday and cleaned up every night. This was the first roofing job I have had where there was a walk through at the end and ensured I had any questions answered.I followed up with Kevin to let him know how happy we were and to arrange final payment on balance. Nothing was added, no surprises and everything was easy and smooth.I would recommend Monarchy Roofing to anyone who is looking to replace a roof or upgrade. The cost was in line with some asphalt quotes and the over delivery and under promise was appreciated. Thanks AgainJP
