In forex trading, a mini lot is worth around tenth of a ‘lot’, of the standard unit. An example of this is if you were to trade a single mini lot with the currency pair EUR/USD, you would typically trade euros in the value of 10,000 US dollars. Many experienced traders use it to tune their exposure to a particular market.
Most advanced traders use mini’s to improve their access over positions to get average in smaller and desired units. Traders may use it to open an account with the small upfront capital as smaller upfront reduces the risk of losing much in conditions when using leverage can increase the risk of losing in higher amounts. Some algorithmic traders may use it to improve their strategies, reduce risks and get higher profits. It helps them get comfortable as the equity moves in extreme zones.
Traders can use a number of minimum lots at one time but sometimes, too many lots become too risky where to minimize the risks, the trader may need to lower the trade amounts. Experts may use such strategies to reduce the risk of losing much where the risks in such trade can be limited by trading on quantitative models. Mini is also used to test markets. By tightening trade sizes that are based on quantitative models some can limit risks that could occur.
