My Three Favorite Pieces From EILEEN FISHER (A Review) (2024)

You guys have been asking — for quite some time — my thoughts on EILEEN FISHER pieces. I’ve been a longtime fan of the brand’s footwear (the sport sneaker sandalshould be included in a TME cute-and-comfy shoe Hall Of Fame somewhere), and I have several sweaters that I love. EILEEN FISHER pieces tend to be insanely well-made (often sustainably and responsibly made, too), and are the kinds of pieces that look much better on — they drape, they move. So when EILEEN FISHER reached out, asking me to take a look at the System, a line of eight simple pieces that can be mixed and matched, I didn’t even hesitate.

The System consists of a few simple tops, four different pants, and one dress. I quickly chose a boxy silk shell (that I’ve since been wearing the heck out of), but choosing pants was trickier. I have never actually worn EILEEN FISHER pants before, so — for the sake of This Very Important Research — I asked the company to send me two different styles:a slim, washable stretch crepe pant and a slouchy silk pant. I had (wrongly) assumed that after trying them on I’d quickly narrow it down to just one, but…nope. They’re both totally different, but really good.

Washable Stretch Crepe Pant vs. Slouchy Silk Pant

The Washable Stretch Crepe pant (on the left) is a little thicker, and has an Audrey Hepburn vibe that I’m loving — especially with the boxy silk shell. I did a petite in both pieces and am thrilled with the fit: the shell is *almost* cropped, and the pants don’t need to be tailored These pants are stretchy (as advertised), and as comfy as joggers. No pockets.

In comparison, the slouchy silk pants have delicious pockets, and, despite the silk fabric, a casual vibe.

Both pants have an elastic waistband, can be dressed up or down, and are insanely comfy to wear.

So. Which is my top pick? Well…let’s style them up and see…

EILEEN FISHER Stretch Crepe Pant, Three Ways

On the weekend

These pants were made for sneakers. In addition to Saturdays spent bopping around Philly, this entire outfit may quickly become my go-to for travel. And before I forget, let’s check out that waistband…

For Work

This is exactly the type of outfit I wore (most of the time, anyway), while working for Lockheed. Chic, easy, comfy, and professional enough (wait – where are my glasses??). I’ll be happily wearing this exact thing to TME headquarters, too. (With the glasses.)

To a Party

There might be no better base for over-the-top extras like faux-fur, feather heels and a studded clutch. It’s festive, comfy, and fun. (That Audrey Hepburn vibe when this set is worn together is so freaking good. IknowIknow— I’ve already mentioned that. BUT STILL. AUDREY.)

EILEEN FISHER Slouchy Silk Pants

OK.So. We’ve gotta talk about these. It turns out that I found these pants a *little*harder to style than the other pair. BUT….it’s because of ME. (It’s me, slouchy silk pants, not you.)

This is basically the style of pant I’ve looked at longingly from afar. On tall models-off-duty in their dad sneaks and slouchy pants and crop tops. (OK, now I’m just listing Things I Look At Longingly, but you get my point.) So whenever I’m playing around with a new silhouette, things are always a little…off. In the beginning, anyway. So let’s start at the beginning, for the purposes of All Learning Together. (And if you’ve already nailed the slouchy silk pant, then feel free to snort and roll your eyes at my novice moves. I AM A BIG GIRL AND CAN TAKE IT.)

With The Silk Shell

There’s something so freaking luxurious about this whole outfit. I think it’s the fancy fabric in the casual shape. It’s basically perfection, this one.

All Summer Long

Because these pants are so lightweight, my initial move was to pair them with sandals and straw bags. Expect to see this again in June.

Warmed Up For Winter

I wanted to play around with warming them up for winter. Pairing the slouchy silk with drapey cashmere in the same color made for one heck of a texture play. And they’re the perfect length and slouch to fit nicely over sock booties.

So. Which was your favorite? I think for right now,the washable crepe pant might be my top pick. I think. And the bum on that pant is pretty good, too. Observe:

There’s something just so refreshingly uncomplicated (yet still totally lux) about this system. I’m on board.
