NBA Sneaker King, P.J. Tucker, gets his first Nike PE shoe (2024)
After 14 long seasons of playing professional basketball, P.J. Tucker was finally given his first pair of PE shoes from Nike.
Tucker revealed on Wednesday via his social media that Nike gifted him with a pair of Hyperdunk X Lows PE. For some of you that may not know what a PE (player exclusive) is, it’s not a signature shoe. Not every athlete signed with a sports brand gets their own shoe design, but they will get specific colorways of certain shoes created specifically for the athlete or a team. In Tucker’s case, it was a colorway just for him.
The shoe is predominantly white with black and red accents, along with a “PJ17” logo on the right side of the heel. Much like Tucker’s game, there’s no gimmicks or questions about the shoe; it leaves it all out there for the world to see. And, according to Tucker, it’s only the first colorway for him.
While there were some criticisms from sneaker fans on social media about the shoe, Tucker gives a genuinely elated reaction on social media, showing them off several times. This excitement is coming from a guy that has one of the best and most vast sneaker collections in the world, let alone the NBA.
In the NBA, he’s the Sneaker King. In just this season, he’s appeared, played, or warmed up, in the Nike Air Fear of God 1, the Cactus Jack 4 Friends and Family, BOTH of the Art Basel Miami Jordan 1s, and the yellow “Not for Resale” 1s, among others- all of which he had his hands on before they released.
This is a guy who’s hooped in the coveted Air Yeezy 2 “Red Octobers.” MULTIPLE TIMES.
So, if P.J. is happy with the shoe, then so should you be, because he knows a lot more about sneakers than you and I ever will. Let’s see if he busts them out against Utah on Thursday.
