New Modes Feature Makes It Easy to Control Your Ring Devices With Just One Tap on the App (2024)

Whether you’re just starting to build your security system or have an entire Ring of Security around your home, controlling your devices should be simple and secure. That’s why we developed Modes -- a new feature in the Ring App that lets you choose with just one tap how your Ring Alarm, Ring Doorbells and Ring Security Cams operate using three different modes: Home, Away, and Disarmed. The feature makes it easy for you to activate or turn off your Ring devices when you need to and enhances your security, control and privacy, all at the same time.

With each Mode, you can choose the default setting or customize it by including only the Ring devices that you wish, to fit your specific needs. That means that you can choose to leave some of your Ring doorbells, cameras or Alarm sensors always on if you’d like.

Here’s how the three Modes work:

  • Disarmed Mode: Disarmed Mode turns the Ring devices that you include in it off all at once. By default, this means that all of the Ring cameras inside your home will be unable to detect motion, record video,or provide access to the Live View. All of yourRing AlarmContact Sensors andMotion Detectors will be disarmed. You can customize the Disarmed Mode to include your outdoor cameras as well if you’d like your entire security system to turn off.
  • Home Mode: Think of the Home Mode as the go-to setting when you only want to monitor the outside of your home. It’s designed to make being inside as comfortable as possible, allowing you to have privacy indoors while still maintaining security outdoors. In the default setting, Home Mode ensures your indoor Ring cameras do not detect motion or provide Live View. YourRing Alarm Motion Detectors are disarmed while yourContact Sensors are armed and your Ring outdoor camerasremain fully active.
  • Away Mode: You can use the Away Mode to activate the devices that are included in it with one simple click. It’s designed to monitor your whole home, inside and out. In the default setting, all of your Ring Video Doorbells and Cams are activated and you get immediate access to the cameras’ Live View. All of your Ring Alarm Contact Sensors and Motion Detectors are armed as well.

You can enable the new Modes on the Ring App. We believe it’s a feature that truly enhances your command of your devices and privacy. It’s convenient and easy-to-use, and it empowers you to customize your security to your needs.
