Can you interrupt the snow kiss from Nick and June???
OK well, like I mentioned in my first response, I like the callback to season 1:
And just before June and Nick kiss, Nick exhales heavily and it’s like a relieved sigh but also like he’s bracing himself for the impact of their embrace?
One of the many things I like about Nick and June is the way they experience a moment together, their emotions within that moment are like different sides of the same coin? For instance, 2x13
I had a post about this, talking about when they both hold Holly, they’re both completely in love in that moment but while June is finally embracing that love, basking in that love, and just being happy in that love
That love and that happiness causes Nick’s realization that he’s going to get them out of there no matter what, that (in his mind) that moment would be the last time he saw June and the only time him, June and Holly will be together because he’s going to get them out and so he’s experiencing the other side of being so in love.
In the kiss, June is holding him and touching him, his face, his hair, she’s smiling and almost hanging onto him because he’s there, he’s not in Chicago, he’s not on the front lines, he’s safe for the moment, he’s in her arms and it’s relief and excitement and joy
Nick, on the other hand, is relishing the moment more intensely, it’s why I like the sigh because June runs to him, excited, since she can’t wait to kiss him, he’s exhaling because he just needs to kiss her now, like he deepens the kiss
and while she’s smiling because he’s there and she’s looking at him because, again, he’s there, he goes in for one more kiss, he just wants to sink into the embrace and express the extent of his pining?
It’s like he’s longing and she’s basking.
