This past week has been full of amazing experiences. Thanks to the University of Delaware’s connections, we were able to work backstage at a few of the haute couture fashion shows. Getting to have hands-on work in the fashion industry in the fashion capital of the world was truly inspiring. Fashion has been something I am passionate about from an early age, so to be able to see these shows from the behind the scenes perspective was amazing. I was in awe watching the first show we worked come together backstage. It was even more amazing than I thought it would be. It was also very interesting to see the way each show functioned and the differences between the designers in terms of both style and organization. Although each show was fantastic, some were extremely organized while others were quite chaotic.
The shows in combination with our class lectures have really taught me a lot about the industry and allowed me to have a greater understanding of what the luxury market is really about.
It’s so cool to be learning about these subjects in a city as amazing and luxurious as Paris. The city is full of luxury and beauty, but that is just one of its many sides. Being able to actually stay in the city, we are learning so much about, ensures that I keep a rounded perspective on both the industry and the city.
Overall, this past week has been an excellent learning experience for an industry I hope to explore a lot post-graduation, and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to be here.
