Mixbook charges $34.99 for an 8.5 x 8.5-inch 20-page hardcover book with a glossy cover and semi-gloss pages. A matte cover costs $5.00 more. Matte pages cost $5 more, and low glare "Premium Lustre" costs $10 extra. A softcover starts at $19.99, and lay flat binding starts at $69.99.

As for print quality, both companies have good print quality (comparing their standard books), but Shutterfly's books appear more neatly constructed and more finished overall. Snapfish doesn't have a blank cover page before the printed pages start as Shutterfly does.

Cofounders Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown, who were attending Stanford, began building an app that could send photos that disappear after a certain amount of time.
