Vinayak Narahari Bhave, popularly known as Vinoba Bhave, was an Indian social reformer who played a key role in India's freedom struggle through non-violent means. Acharya Vinoba Bhave was a great disciple of Mahatma Gandhi and joined the movements of the Indian Freedom Struggle in his early twenties.

Vinoba Bhave (born September 11, 1895, Gagode, Bombay Presidency [now in Maharashtra], India—died November 15, 1982, Wardha, Maharashtra) was one of India's best-known social reformers and a widely venerated disciple of Mohandas K. (Mahatma) Gandhi. Bhave was the founder of the Bhoodan Yajna (“Land-Gift Movement”).

Acharya Vinoba Bhave was a nonviolence activist, freedom activist, social reformer and spiritual teacher. Being an avid follower of Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba upheld his doctrines of non-violence and equality. He dedicated his life to serve the poor and the downtrodden, and stood up for their rights.

In 1958 Bhave was the first recipient of the international Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1983. Vinoba Bhave, The Man, a documentary film on the social-reformer directed by Vishram Bedekar was released in 1963.

In 1951, Bhave started the Bhoodan Movement in Pochampally, Telangana.

Mahatma Gandhi declared Vinoba Bhave as his spiritual heir. He also participated in Satyagraha as one of the foremost satyagrahis. He was one of the votaries of Gandhi's concept of gram swarajya.

Paunar – Paramdham Ashram

Paramdham Ashram is established by Acharya Vinoba Bhave in the year 1934 on the bank of river Dham in Paunar village five miles way from Wardha.

He looked at all life as sacred and all human beings as part of the divine, living in harmony with other beings. Suffering of all living beings was of concern to him. Gandhi realized that there is some kind of continuity between lording over nature and lording over other 'inferior' people as in colonialism.

Gandhiji came to Champaran in 1917. Here the farmers were forced to yield indigo on the 15% of the land and had to submit the entire indigo crop as rent. Gandhi Ji went there to fight for the poor farmers. But the administration ordered him to leave Champaran.
