Pono Kai was built in 1978 and is comprised of three different associations: Pono Kai Interval Owners Association (PKIOA): Comprised of 150 timeshare units (multiple units in all buildings – A-K, which includes every unit in Building K), and 2 commercial units (Laundry and Housekeeping) Pacific.
Waipouli Beach is 1.2 miles from Pono Kai Resort, while Lydgate State Park is 3.3 miles from the property. The nearest airport is Lihue Airport, 8.7 miles from the accommodation.
Comprised of 150 timeshare units (multiple units in all buildings – A-K, which includes every unit in Building K), and 2 commercial units (Laundry and Housekeeping), PKIOA represents 59.9437% of the ownership. PKIOA is responsible for the maintenance of each of their 150 units.
Literally it can be translated as righteousness and appropriateness. Furthermore it defines a state of harmony and balance. Being pono is a state of mind and condition to strive for.
Originally built in the 60s, Kona Village was known as an idyllic vacation destination that embraced the richness of the Hawaiian culture and the natural beauty of the coastline. Guests often came back year after year, creating a community closer to a village than a resort.
Right on the periphery of downtown Kapaa, a scrappy little beach town on Kauai's eastern coast, Pono Kai Resort is within a 10- to 15-minute walk of local shops, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Kauaʻi is Hawaiʻi's fourth largest island and is sometimes called the "Garden Island," which is an entirely accurate description. The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires and jagged cliffs aged by time and the elements.
We are less than 10 minutes away from the airport! Is your beach swimming accessible? Our private beach does not provide access to the water as it is host to the Kona Kai Marina.
