The side seam dart can be pivoted into the armhole seam line.Other changes may be made, depending on the final design. Some examples are: (a) the second waist dart can be eliminated – either just removed for a looser fit, or the amount can be incorporated into the main dart for a slimmer fit, (b) sleeves can be added, (c) the skirt can be made A-line, as in the example dress in Image 2 below.Princess Line - Dresspatternmaking (2)

    1. Hi there

I only draft patterns for myself and write instructions for those patterns, sharing what I have learned in the process. Given that I only draft patterns for myself, most of my patterns will have princess lines. The next 10 or so pattern videos that I have planned all have princess lines (dresses, jackets and tops). Those who don’t like the princess line can modify the patterns to leave the original darts in, and/or do some dart manipulation to move the darts/princess line elsewhere. I haven’t lots of information on my website about dart manipulation, but have not yet made a video. At some point in time I will do so but that will be months away.

Bottom line is, if the information I provide isn’t what you want, you will need to look elsewhere.
