‘Project Runway All Stars’ poll results: Joshua McKinley was sent home by the judges, and our readers actually agreed (2)

Joshua McKinley was eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in “Posen on the Red Carpet,” and it proved to be one of the rare instances this season when the judges and our readers were on the same page. We asked “Runway” fans who really deserved to be sent home, and 60% of them said the judges made the right call by dismissing McKinley. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.

McKinley flew under the radar this season until “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” which was the first challenge where he received any critique from the judges at all — and he won. Though many of our readers thought his provocative design was a curious choice for the victory. The very next week, in “A Kick in the Astro,” he got his very first low score of the season, and he responded defensively to the judges’ criticisms. But he was spared, while Kimberly Goldson was eliminated, and our readers thought that was the wrong call too.

Now the judges and our readers are in agreement, and even McKinley might have thought it was fair. In “Posen” he and the rest of the designers had to create a red-carpet look using a signature technique. McKinley chose pintucking, but he bit off more than he could chew with his labor-intensive design. He admitted during the runway show, “The top is so unresolved. As cool as the technique is, I really needed more time.” Isaac Mizrahi thought it looked “like two completely different designs,” and guest judge Zac Posen felt it was “a little bit trashy.”

But not everyone thought McKinley had the worst look. Another 19% of our poll respondents said that Edmond Newton had the worst design with a giant flower that looked to Alyssa Milano like a throw pillow. 15% said Ken Laurence should have been sent home for his dress with an uneven V-neck and a sculpted side piece that even Laurence didn’t like. The last 6% thought the judges should have eliminated a designer who wasn’t even in the bottom three.

Who do you think should have gone home? Check out the complete poll results below.
