Ramona Singer: ‘Real Housewife’ turned restaurateur (2024)

A newly single “Real Housewives of New York” reality TV star has a new title: restaurateur.

Ramona Singer is now a partner in AOA Bar & Grill at 35 Sixth Ave. in Tribeca, Side Dish can reveal.

Singer and her partner, Peter Guimaraes, took over the 6,000- square-foot, 190-seat restaurant a month ago.

Singer, now single after 25 years of marriage to a man whose cheating ways were dramatically exposed earlier this year, says she wanted to invest in a “social place” where single people can meet and mingle.

“I love food, and I love being social,” Singer tells Side Dish. “I’m single, and spend a lot of time alone now. I’m not going on JDate and Match — and gyms are no longer the place where you go to meet people. Neither are fancy restaurants.

“If you are sitting in the back corner table of a fancy restaurant, you are not going to meet anyone. But if you are at a sports bar and grill you stand around and you will meet people — socially, professionally — it’s a win-win for everyone. People will be out there mingling, like they are at a party.”

Singer also has her own wines sold through Opici — a red and a white — that will be available at the restaurant.

Singer describes AOA Bar & Grill as an “existing restaurant that we are slowly making better.”

There are also two-hour pizza-making classes — $80 for one person and $150 for two — available on the weekends that are a “great option if you are looking for something to do with kids,” she said.

The Renwick Hotel, slated to open in Midtown East, near Grand Central Station, next summer, will include a 3,000-square-foot “destination restaurant” aimed at bringing a downtown vibe to a luxury Midtown location.

Built in 1928, the 173-room hotel at 118 E. 40th St. once housed artists and writers like John Steinbeck, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas Mann.

The owners are Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Asset Value Enhancement,and Meadow Partners.
