Revealed: The Most (And The Least) Attractive English Accents In The World - CEOWORLD magazine (2024)
British accent has been rated as the most attractive English accent in the world, according to a new survey by the CEOWORLD magazine. The results were revealed in a global study, which questioned 96,398 people across 32 countries worldwide to list “most attractive English accents” other than their own.
While everyone has their own preferences, the survey ranked 31 different English accents in order of “attractiveness,” and the results were quite surprising.
It revealed that 68 percent of those questioned said they were unable to resist the British English Accent. The Irish English Accent came second with 57 percent followed by Australian English Accent with 53 percent.
Fourth was American English Accent (51 percent) and making up the top five was the French English Accent (48 percent).
The German accent came in sixth (47 percent) followed by Scottish (44 percent) and New Zealand (41 percent). Completing the top ten were Canadian and Indian accents. Down at the bottom of the table in the 31st place was Vietnamese accent.
While second to the last place was scooped up by Chinese with Arabic and Nigerian coming just behind. English accents have been ranked in order of “attractiveness,” where does your accent rate?

The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 85.000 respondents is plus or minus 1.3 percentage points. Overwhelmingly, people like the Southern accent best, followed by British and Australian accents. Southern accents tend to be thought of as friendly and welcoming, while British and Australian accents are more exotic.
The Great British accent proved to be the most difficult of all the accents to imitate – along with the regional Yorkshire and co*ckney pronunciations, in particular.
