Biography[]
Working for Logan[]
Rollie is first encountered by Dwight during the conflict between Morgan's group and Logan's crew. Dwight lures Rollie into a trap in an effort to talk him down. Unsuccessful, Dwight leaves him tied up before rejoining the others.
Rollie is later a part of a group of Logan's men that chases the Caravan before the SWAT van scares them off. However, this turns out to be a ruse so that Logan can gain access to Tank Town.
In order to gain access to Tank Town, Dwight and Sarah ambush and captures Rollie along with a few other members of Logan's crew. They leave the men tied up, ultimately sparing Rollie from Virginia's subsequent massacre of Logan's crew.
Fighting Virginia[]
Rollie later joins a group called the Outcasts which includes Dwight's estranged wife, Sherry. Their purpose is to kill Virginia at any cost which brings them into conflict with Dwight, Al and Morgan Jones over their methods. After Virginia is captured by Morgan, Rollie, Sherry and the other Outcasts join Strand's Rangers in demanding Virginia's execution, using the guns on the stolen SWAT van to enforce their point. However, they reluctantly agree to Morgan's solution of exiling Virginia instead and depart in the SWAT van.
Attempt at a Better Future[]
Not long after, Morgan brings together his people, the Pioneers and the Outcasts in an attempt to build a better future together and to combat the mysterious Doomsday Cult. While they initially have some success, everyone's weapons disappears and Rollie catches Charlie snooping around. The situation escalates into Daniel almost allowing a herd in an attempt to find the missing weapons before Morgan returns and takes out the herd with the SWAT van's machine guns. Daniel, who turns out to be having some psychological issues, is revealed to be the actual culprit. As a result, the new alliance breaks apart as everyone decides to go their own separate ways and look after their own best interests.
Turning Into a Traitor[]
As is later revealed, the incident with Daniel breaks Rollie's faith and he secretly turns into a traitor, becoming a spy for the Doomsday Cult. Rollie is presumably the one who informs the cult about Morgan Jones and his possession of the USS Pennsylvania's launch key as they were unaware of this beforehand. The existence of a spy is briefly hinted at following a mission to the cult's base the Holding where the cult is initially welcoming until learning that Alicia, Al, Wes and Luciana are with Morgan.
When Morgan and his allies storm the Pennsylvania in an attempt to stop Teddy's plans, Rollie accompanies them, but he remains behind with most of the group. Secretly, however, Rollie warns the cult of their arrival ahead of time, giving them the chance to prepare. Morgan and Victor Strand fail to stop Teddy, Dakota and Riley in time, resulting in the launch of one nuclear missile containing ten warheads.
Death[]
Following the launch of the missile, Rollie and Wes capture Riley who offers to lead Morgan's group to the secret bunker where Alicia is located. Having heard a mysterious voice on the radio giving out coordinates to a safe location, Daniel insists on heading there instead, but Rollie attacks Daniel's credibility based on the previous incident. As a result, the group departs in the SWAT van for the bunker with Rollie driving.
On the road, Rollie hits a walker and damages the SWAT van's breaks, forcing the group to stop and conduct repairs. Rollie joins most of the others in fighting off a small attacking herd, managing to buy Sarah enough time to repair the vehicle. As Rollie returns to the van, he states that "we'll make it out of this thing yet. Like a phoenix." With Riley having also mentioned the phoenix moments before in relation to the cult's ideology, Daniel realizes that Rollie is actually a traitor. Taking Luciana's gun, Daniel abruptly executes Rollie for his actions with a headshot. Riley attempts to take Daniel's gun, but he is shot and mortally wounded by Charlie. The dying Riley confirms that Rollie was in fact a traitor and that the two of them had simply been trying to lead the group to a spot where they would die in the coming nuclear destruction. With Daniel having been vindicated, the group instead heads to his coordinates where they are rescued by a CRM helicopter. Rollie's body is left lying in the road where he had died.
Trivia[]
- Rollie is the only member of Logan's Crew, albeit a former one, who was killed by a member of Morgan's Group.
- As of his death, there are no known living survivors from Logan's Crew.
- Before killing Rollie, Daniel asks Luciana in Spanish if she thinks that the Tank Town traitors should die, suggesting that Daniel suspects Rollie of betraying Tank Town's location to the cult, causing its ultimate destruction. However, as revealed by Riley moments later, Rollie joined the cult following the incident with Daniel which had occurred months after Tank Town's destruction.
