Sacred Faith Days (2024)

Easter Sunday:
In terms of most important holidays under the Christian calendar, Easter is the most important to Pentecostal Christians. Falling between March 22nd and April 25th every year, The Easter Holiday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the savior, and his resurrection. On Good Friday, a somber day, Christians remember the ultimate sacrifice of God and Jesus Christ, by giving his life to relieve Christians of their sins (See: Sacred Writings and Scriptures:John 3:16). Therefore, Christians see Jesus Christ as their saviour and mark this day with great significance. On Good Friday, Pentecostal Christians abstain from work or eating meat from sunrise to midday (12:00 PM) to mark the time it took Jesus Christ to carry the Cross for all of Christianity. Easter Sunday, however, is a joyous day where Pentecostal Christians mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Easter Sunday is marked with special Church services and the taking of communion (See: Rituals and Ceremonies).

Christmas:
Pentecostal Christians celebrate Christmas on the same date every year, December 25th. Pentecostals celebrate Christmas in Church services that emphasize the actual meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ (See: Isaiah 9:6-7). A greeting of Merry Christmas is used to greet others with the reminder that Christ, the saviour, has been born.Special performances and sermons may be held on Christmas, with Christians using the holiday to spend more time with their families and friends. Overall, the time is very joyous for Pentecostal Christians.

Other Holidays:

New Years: Although not officially a Christian Holiday, Pentecostal Christians may hold special New Years Churches Services on December 31st to mark the importance of celebrating a new year with new blessings from God.

Thanksgiving: Varying on the day celebrated depending on the country it's celebrated in, some Pentecostal churches may hold Thanksgiving themed services to emphasize thanks for Gods blessings.
