Schoolboy stuns with straight 9 grades in his GCSE results (2024)

A schoolboy has stunned by achieving straight 9 grades in his GCSE exams, the highest result possible.

16-year-old Louis Huxford attends The Cooper School in Churchill Road and is planning to stay on at the school for his A Levels.

Louis told this newspaper doing his GCSEs in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic was “challenging” but believes his year group “tried our best” given the circ*mstances.

The teen achieved the high grades despite feeling that a couple of his exams “did not go as well as expected”.

Louis Huxford, 16, got straight 9 grades.

He said he was pleased with the results because he felt some exams did not go how he expected.

He added: “I’m feeling very happy with the results and I’m now planning to study maths, Spanish, and politics.

“I want to say a big thank you to all the teachers who have helped me in the last five years; I appreciate all the time you have put into helping me achieve my best.”

Louis results come as the school revealed nearly a quarter of pupils received top grades.

23 per cent of year 11 pupils at the school gained five or more passes at grades 7-9.

Dr. Rob Whannel, headteacher at The Cooper School said: “I am very proud of our Year 10 and Year 11 students.

“Despite the range of challenges placed upon them during their GCSE courses, they have risen to overcome these obstacles admirably and secured success, not only in their academic attainment, but also in themselves as individuals.
