Season 4 (2024)

Elena is furious with her wedding planner, Javier, when his cousin screws up in making her wedding dress. Javier is furious back, until he realizes that Elena was trying to copy her late mother's wedding dress. Sean eats Elena's wedding cake. Sean is made at Meghan when they compare fantasies and his is Elizabeth Hurley while hers is Elena's fiance Tracy. Felicity is scared of her senior year while Ben has come to the conclusion, a little late, that he wants to be pre-med. Ben feels like Felicity isn't being supportive of him while Felicity is dealing with her father ragging on her, declaring her independence and paying for college on her own, and not getting into the honors art program. Noel is depressed when he can't find a job. Felicity and Noel, who spent a fabulous platonic summer together, support each other and end up in a passionate kiss on the roof of Sean's building where they spent all summer sunbathing.

Felicity and Noel slept together on the roof and rather ineptly keep that information from Ben. Elena and Tracy ask Felicity to perform their wedding ceremony when Tracy's minister has to bow out at the last minute. Sean is still annoyed about Meghan's thing for Tracy, and ends up betting Meghan that she can't get Tracy to kiss her. Richard figures out that Noel and Felicity slept together. Felicity struggles with whether or not to tell Ben, while her counselor urges her not to forget about Noel in this situation. Felicity, confused and upset, breaks up with Ben, while Noel is still a supportive friend to her. When Meghan hits on Tracy, Tracy pushes her away and tells Elena, who confronts Meghan. Meghan tells Elena that she thinks Elena and Tracy are just getting married so that they can have sex. Elena asks Tracy if he thinks that's true, and Tracy assures her he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Just before the wedding, Tracy asks Elena to make sure that she feels the same way. Elena and Tracy end up cancelling the wedding. Meghan and Sean sponataneously get married in their place.

Meghan's parents want to meet Sean's parents, but Sean is ashamed of his father and dreads the whole experience. It turns out that Sean is actually ashamed of himself, and what embarasses him about his father are the things that make them so similar. Sean is also running dangerously low on money, but doesn't tell Meghan. After meeting Sean's family, Meghan's parents threaten to disown her if she doesn't annul her marriage, but she doesn't tell Sean. Noel comes to Sean's rescue with a loan when he gets the inheritance money from staying married to Natalie for a year. Ben and Felicity patch up their relationship, but Felicity still feels guilty for sleeping with Noel. Felicity struggles when she doesn't get the financial aid she was expecting, and after running out of other scholarship options she takes Javier's advice and submits an application to a beauty pageant. Ben starts organic chemistry and teams up with a friendly party-boy named Trevor as his lab partner. Ben barely makes it through his first week in the class with some help from Elena. Javier auditions for a musical and is thrilled when he gets a part in the chorus. Elena is sad when she gets a letter from Tracy saying he's taking the semester off to get her out of his head.

Felicity enters a beauty pageant in hopes of winning the first prize of $10,000 to help with her tuition, but unfortunately she loses to a bitch. Felicity thinks she might be pregnant, and Elena tries to be a supportive friend. Felicity confides in Noel, because she thinks it might be from her one night with him, and when Elena finds out she realizes that there's a reason Felicity told Noel and not Ben. Ben finds out anyway, by finding paperwork from Felicity's clinic visit. Ben confronts her at the pageant, but they are both soon relieved when Felicity gets her period. Meghan's parents cut her off from the family, both financially and personally, and Meghan admits to Sean that she's worried about the sacrifice that she's making. Noel goes to the guidance counselor for help finding a job and ends up getting the guidance counselor's job. With his new position, Noel helps Ben drop some classes after the deadline and finds Felicity a position as an Art 10 T.A. which helps with her tuition money. Ben and Noel start to forge a real friendship.

Javier is mad at Samuel, and convinces Noel to go to Atlantic City with him to see Lionel Richie in concert. They are disappointed when the concert is sold out, but they run into Lionel Richie in the men's room, and he gives Javier good advice for making up with Samuel. Felicity starts her new job as a T.A. and ends up teaching the class when the professor is arrested for shop-lifting. Her students give her a hard time about competing in a beauty pageant, but with some advice from Elena she stands up for herself. Meghan gets spotted by a teen trend-spotter on the street for a shirt that she made, and Sean gets the idea to make copies of the shirt and sell them. Sean and Meghan argue over his stealing her look, but then she realizes that her look isn't so unique after all, so she changes it. Ben and his lab partner, Trevor, get kicked out of O-Chem class after complaining about their failing grades on the mid-term. They show up, already drunk, to Felicity and Elena's Halloween party, but Trevor keeps drinking and Ben ends up having to take him to the hospital. Ben confronts his O-Chem prof, Hodges, with the news and Hodges finally admits he may have misled his students about the contents of the midterm and lets Ben and Trevor back into the class. Richard wears a really cool home-made Darth Vader costume to the Halloween party, but is frustrated when he can't close the deal with a cute girl because he gets stuck in his head-piece.

Ben gives Felicity a sled for her 21st birthday and suggests they go to Vermont for the weekend, but before they can leave Ben gets a call from a friend of his dad, Lauren, who says that his dad is in the hospital with liver failure. Ben's dad gives Ben his power of attorney, and Ben goes against his dad's wishes and keeps him alive on machines. Felicity has lunch with Professor Cavallo and wonders if he's coming onto her, but then she suspect that he's actually sleeping with one of his students, Gretchen. As guidance counselor, Noel gives Felicity and Elena two new freshman roommates, who drive Elena nuts and "borrow" her suede jacket. Noel, desperate to get out of being a guidance counselor, takes all the new job listings for himself and finally gets a job as a graphic designer. Richard accidentally lets slip on Ben's answering machine the secret about Noel and Felicity sleeping together. Richard and Elena go over and distract Sean and Meghan so that they can erase the message. Noel, seeing Ben with Lauren on Felicity's birthday, assumes the worst about Ben and they get into a fight. In the heat of the moment, Noel lets it slip that he and Felicity slept together. Sean and Meghan try to come up with a name for their shirt company.

Felicity tries to talk to Ben, but he doesn't want to talk to her. Finally, she gets him to agree to have dinner with her, but he quickly feels too weird about the whole thing and leaves. Ben's father is in better shape and, while still in the hospital, is back on the transplant list. Ben's mother comes to town and tells Ben that she and his father are getting back together. Ben tells Sean that he wants to forgive Felicity like his mom forgave his dad, but he can't figure out how. Finally, Ben at least reads a letter that Felicity gave him. Noel starts his new job at a graphic design firm, but gets fired on his second day when he stays late-night and gets busted making out with the boss's daughter, Zoe. Noel goes back to being a guidance counselor. Gaby "borrows" one of Ben's sweatshirts from Felicity. Felicity is so distracted by Ben that she lets one of her students down, who might now have to leave school because he'll lose his athletic scholarship. Elena helps Ben and Trevor with chemistry. Elena and Trevor talk about the differences between men and women cheating, and end up making out on Elena's couch. Noel tells Ben that he's looking for a new place to live.

It's Thanksgiving, and Meghan is determined to get Ben and Felicity back together. Elena worries that Trevor isn't smart enough to date, and against her better judgement she secretly gives him a test that Meghan recommends. When Sean tells Trevor what Elena is doing, Trevor is expectedly insulted. Elena apologizes and admits to Trevor that she worries about the lack of balance in her life because all she does is study. Trevor forgives her and teaches her how to play darts. Noel's brother, Ryan, comes to New York spend Thanksgiving with Noel, but when Noel gets defensive about recent screw-ups in his life, their Thanksgiving is ruined. Noel ditches Ryan and picks up a girl in a bar who ends up robbing him and leaving him tied naked to a bed in a hotel room. After helping rescue Noel, Ryan tells him that depression sort of runs in their family, and Noel should consider talking to someone about what's bothering him. Noel leaves a message for a University doctor asking for a recommendation. Javier and Samuel argue when Samuel doesn't care that Javier's cat is sick, so Javier comes to stay with Felicity and Elena. Ben brings his father's friend Lauren to Thanksgiving dinner, and after Thanksgiving dinner ends in a fight between him and Felicity, he later admits to Felicity that he did it to hurt her. Felicity and Ben start to make up, and have sex, but then Ben leaves because, even though he still loves her, he still feels hurt by her.

In the aftermath of Felicity and Ben's ugly fight at Thanksgiving, Javier tries his hand at playing Cupid, unwittingly putting Felicity smack in the middle of Ben's first date with Lauren (Lisa Edelstein). Meanwhile, Noel discovers an unexpected ally in Meghan after he sees a psychiatrist who diagnoses him with depression and recommends therapy and medication. Noel looks into starting his own business and resolves to distance himself from Felicity, but an emergency at school brings them together in spite of their personal troubles. Meanwhile, Felicity finds new direction of her own in an art project. Ben becomes more studious than ever. Meghan learns that her visiting teenage sister (Kala Savage) is pregnant. Thanks to the weather, which delays her flight home for the holidays, Ben manages to catch Felicity in time to tell her he wants to get back together. Felicity embraces the idea without hesitation, but Ben has one more bridge to cross before he can fully focus on their relationship: The snowfall has also delayed the arrival of his father's donor liver, and Ben must weigh the consequences of letting his mother donate part of her own. Meanwhile, Noel and Sean embark on a joint business venture.

Ben reels when Lauren drops the bomb that is she is pregnant from their one night together four months ago. Noel also revisits a past fling when he has a chance encounter with Zoe Webb. Meanwhile, a frustrated Felicity gets little support from her mother when she starts pounding the pavement with Owen in an effort to get her art into galleries.

Ben breaks the news that Lauren is pregnant. His father (John Ritter) voices a different opinion on the role Ben should play in the child's upbringing. As that development sinks in, Felicity tests out a potential new career path. Meanwhile, working with Zoe causes Noel some undue stress; and differing priorities cause some mutual annoyance between Sean and Meghan.

Lauren tells Ben that she intends to raise their child in Arizona, threatening to upset the newly dedicated father-to-be's plans for medical school and his future with Felicity. Unfortunately, Felicity learns of this latest development secondhand, when Noel innocently relays an answering-machine message regarding Ben's possible school transfer. Shaken by the news, Felicity talks to her confidant Noel about the pregnancy---and inadvertently angers Ben, who suspects that Noel still has feelings for Felicity.

Sidetracked by her redefined love life and career path, Felicity lets a big paper for her art-history class go until the last minute. Frustrated and desperate, she resorts to plagiarism (and immediately regrets the decision). An ultrasound reveals the sex of Ben and Lauren's child, and the father-to-be considers hiring a lawyer to stop Lauren from moving to Arizona. Meanwhile, Noel's boss expresses his disapproval of Sean's behavior; and Javier fears that Rita's new boyfriend (Michael B. Silver) is gay. Rita: Bitty Schram. Dominic Webb: Christopher Allport. Ben falls victim to a car accident while on his way to help Lauren pack for her move to Arizona. As she waits for him to come out of surgery, Felicity learns that Lauren faces drunk-driving charges. Meanwhile, Noel's rocky relationship with Zoe continues without the complications of intimacy; Richard asks Elena out for the sole purpose of impressing another woman; and Felicity's plagiarized and soon-to-be published paper still hangs over her head.

Pomp and circ*mstance for the graduating UNY Class of 2002 bring a crossroads for Felicity: become engaged to Ben and move to Arizona so he can be near his son or stay in New York to pursue her own dreams. Ultimately, she faces the fact that she has spent the last four years following him, and now it's his turn... or time to say goodbye.

A year has passed since Felicity graduated from college, and she catches Ben, whom she's supposedly engaged to, with another woman. Faced with this sad development on the eve of Noel's wedding, Felicity realizes she made a huge mistake it was Noel she should have been with all along and she gets that chance when Meghan's spell catapults her back in time to the very night senior year that she and Noel slept together.

Felicity is still back in the past trying to find love with Noel, but all goes awry when they run into his ex-girlfriend Hannah, who makes a play for reconciliation. Meanwhile, Felicity's trip back in time has reshuffled the deck for others, too, and Sean breaks up with Meghan for a chance with his old crush Julie. Elena serves as Javier's unlikely acting coach, and Felicity gets a surprise when she goes premed.

Felicity's trip back in time is having a ripple effect on everyone, and her new relationship with Noel inspires Sean to break up with Meghan and revisit his old crush, Julie (Amy Jo Johnson reprising her role). Unfortunately, Julie has eyes for Ben, who is still pining for Felicity, and the sexual tension results in a twisted game of "Spin the Bottle." Joy Gregory wrote the episode directed by Harry Winer.

Felicity's plan to return to senior year and give love a chance with Noel backfires when she reveals that she came from the future and he thinks she's lost her grip on reality. Then, one of her closest friends is tragically killed and Felicity is desperate to undo the spell and reverse their fate.

Felicity and company graduated weeks ago, and in recent episodes she magically traveled back in time to secure her romantic future with Noel, rather than Ben. The new pairing does come to pass, but Noel senses the forced nature of their relationship. And, despite knowing that Ben will cheat on her, Felicity can't deny her feelings for him. Which one is the man for her? The question the series has posed time and again is finally answered.
