Shadowheart Origin Character Details
Shadowheart is an Origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3. Origin characters are playable heroes who have their own stories, desires, and attitudes toward the world in BG3. You can play as Shadowheart to live out her story, or you can choose to create a custom character and recruit her as a companion instead.
"Shadowheart willingly undertook a ritual to remove her memories in order to protect the secrets of her fellow Shar worshippers. Loss and pain are sacred to her, but her faith is now being tested like never before."
Where to Find Shadowheart
Shadowheart is most likely the first companion you’ll recruit into your party in Baldur’s Gate 3. After completing the prologue and heading slightly north along the beach, you’ll come across a woman bashing against an ornate door. As you get closer to her, you’ll discover this is Shadowheart near the Overgrown Ruins. Deciding that it’s better for the two of you to team up and deal with this mind flay parasite, you can work together.

Shadowheart Companion Quest
Every companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to have a personal quest that develops their character along a unique storyline. These quests are often an opportunity for custom characters to build a relationship with the companion depending on their choices and reactions. Progression often occurs at the campsite, but can still take place in the outside world too. Shadowheart’s quest is called 'Daughter of Darkness'.

These ability points are set by default when you select Shadowheart. You may choose to instead customize the distribution of 27 ability points to adjust her stats. If you change your mind, you can always select ‘Use Recommended’ to revert back to the recommended values for her class.

Shadowheart is a High Half-Elf. You cannot change Shadowheart’s race or subrace at character creation.

- Base Racial Speed: You can move 9m per turn.
- Civil Militia: You have Weapon Proficiency with spears, pikes, halberds, and glaives, and Armour Proficiency with Light Armour and Shields.
- Darkvision: Can see in the dark up to 12m.
- Fey Ancestry: You have Advantage on Saving Throws against being Charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
High Half-Elf Subrace Features
“A touch of the Feywild remains in half-elves with this bloodline, and even those untrained in magic possess a hint of wild power.”
Choose 1 of the following High Elf Cantrips. It uses your Intelligence as its modifier.

| Ray of Frost | Reduces the target’s movement speed by 3m. |
| Shocking Grasp | The target cannot use reactions. This spell has Advantage on creatures with metal armour. |
| Blade Ward | Take only half the damage from Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing attacks. |
| Friends | Gain Advantage on Charisma Checks against a non-hostile creature.

Shadowheart is a Cleric. You cannot change Shadowheart’s class or subclass at character creation.
As a Cleric, you gain the following class features:
- Level 1 Spell Slots Unlocked: You gain 2 level 1 spell slot(s), which are restored on a Long Rest.
- Domain Spells: You gain spells from your domain. They are always prepared.
In addition to Cleric class features, Trickery has the following subclass features:
- Blessing of the Trickster: Grant another creature advantage on Stealth checks.
- Charm Person: Charm a humanoid to prevent it from attacking you. You gain Advantage on Charisma Checks in dialogue.
- Disguise Self: Magically change all aspects of your appearance.

- Acolyte: You have spent your life in service to a temple, learning sacred rites and providing sacrifices to the god or gods you worship. Serving the gods and discovering their sacred works will guide you to greatness.
You cannot change Shadowheart’s background at character creation.
