Should You Try Clog Shoes For Fall (2024)

I’ve been perusing all my go-to online stores lately for new fall pieces. I’m so ready for some newness. And instead of grabbing just new boots, new sweaters and so on. I thought, what about new clogs? A totally new trend we haven’t seen in years.

These 70s-inspired shoes are chunky, cool and perfect for fall. At almost every store I’ve browsed lately, there’s a clog to choose from!

You know it’s a trend for the season when there’s officially a clog filter on almost every site I’ve gone to. I feel like the last time these were in style was when I was in middle school. And here we are back to styling clogs.

But are you into them? How do we feel about clogs for fall?

I have to say I’m into them, but hesitant to wear them. Lack of confidence, maybe? I don’t know. I’m not really an unconfident person, but this trend for some reason has me questioning my outfits.

But f*ck that, I say own it. And I’ll keep saying it until I really feel like I am. Because that is how you get more confident, right? Right. So I’m going for it.

How I Plan On Styling Clogs For Fall

As soon as I headed to Pinterest to search for ways to style clogs I discovered a few things. First, Pinterest suffers from super old content still circulating in popularity making it a struggle to find current looks.

So I plan to change that by putting my own outfits on Pinterest, obviously. But the looks I did find inspired me so much because they were often paired with the pants in my closet I struggle to style outside of my usual platform Converse.

With Wide Leg Pants

Both cropped and long. When it comes to the cropped wide-leg pant I am either doing a high heel, or a platform Converse for fall. I for some reason never pair them with booties but think they’ll be perfect with clogs.

They show off the shoe, and balance out the outfit, I love it! I’ll be wearing all my wide leg crop pants with clogs for fall. And all my traditional wide-leg flared jeans. These types of jeans always pair nicely with a nice chunky heel or boot and a clog is just meant to be worn with them. It’s 70s perfection!

I styled my Loeffler Randall clogs with these wide leg cropped jeans and a sweater for fall. And for a nicer outfit, these Veronica Beard high heeled clogs are great with a super wide leg pant like I styled here.

The Kick Crop Jeans

As seen in today’s look, these affordable LOFT clogs are perfect with a kick crop. It’s a nod to the 70s look and the cropped trend happening now. My kick crop jeans have become my go-to jeans lately and adding a fun chunky wooden clog is exactly what they need for fall.

Dresses And Skirts

Pair clogs with floral boho dresses for the ultimate 70s inspired look. Add a leather jacket or blazer to balance the entire outfit out and add some structure. I’m definitely on the hunt for good dresses and skirts for fall this year. I’m always wearing my jeans and am determined to step outside my comfort zone.

Mom Jeans

The must-have jeans right now. Mom jeans are having a major moment. Whether you just go for a good straight leg jean, or a more relaxed vintage mom jean, really ANY jeans work with clogs. They’re such a good pairing. Light wash, dark wash, black denim and even white denim. They just work together no matter what.

Now Let’s Shop Some Clogs For Fall

I personally am loving more of a heeled clog for fall. I can skip the flats, the Birkenstock Bostons, they’re not for me. I’m into a heeled wooden clog 100%. Choose leather or suede, a sling back or mule. There are tons of options.

And honestly, the last few years the block-heeled mule had a major moment and those still work here too! Here’s an example of a wannabe clog that many of us embraced in recent years. But a clog is slightly different and more traditional.

They’re always made with one solid wooden piece for the sole. They typically have a rounded toe and an upper made of leather or suede.

Best Clogs For Women Under $100

Going to be honest, there aren’t a ton of options for clogs under $100. I think the wooden construction of the shoe is what makes them a bit pricier. But below are some options that I think are great.

Honestly, the Target ones are really impressive in person. They look like a $100 shoe and are only $35. Since this is definitely a unique trend, I think trying it as an affordable option is the best way to do a test run.

I never like to splurge on popular trends, or things that I’m not 100% sure I’m obsessed with just yet. Try something in the $40 range, and if you find yourself loving them and wearing them a ton, grab another nicer pair!

Designer Clogs I’m Loving

Not all of these are “designer” and super expensive. But it was very clear that under $100 clogs are far and few between. Plenty of great options just slightly over $100 like today’s LOFT clogs that are only $128 and are usually part of some promo. I’m going to be honest though.

The Target ones look just as good as my $128 LOFT ones. I’m personally eyeing the Schutz super high-heeled ones and the Veronica Beard olive green suede ones. They’d be a big splurge for me, but you know what, I may just go for it.

And lastly on my wish list are oddly enough the cow print ones. And Loeffler Randall clogs are a recent addition to my closet.

A few other notable brands to check out when it comes to clogs and clogs done right are Sweedish Hasbeens and Bryr. These are two that were highly recommended by Indigoers!
