What's the difference?! Generally, bottoms of 5T size clothes have more room to fit diapers & pull-ups in the butt area so that your child is not overly tightened while still potty training. Similarly, 5T bottoms are more often tapered at the ankles as compared to 5 sizes (just like toddler and baby pants).

Youth Sizes
A child who wears a 5T, will likely fit best in a youth XS. Additionally, note that a Youth XL is about the same size as an Adult Unisex Small, but a little bit wider, whereas the Adult Small will have a more narrow fit.
Is XS the same as 6t? ›
In toddler/kids it goes from smallest to infinity: 5T, 5, 5/6(xs), 6, 6x, 6/7, 7/8(small, some clothing small=6/6x/7). Mostly longer legs on pants, longer sleeves, less baggy in butt area but actually taller/ higher position of pants.
