Update: In a full-on Uno reverse move, a source recently dished to Page Six that Kim Kardashian *will* indeed be attending the 2023 Met Gala, despite initial reports that no members of the famous family would be invited. Plus, the publication also reported that murmurs from insiders claim that the Skims founder won’t be the only Kardashian to walk the steps of the Met Museum on the first Monday in May. TBH, I’m putting my money on Kenny, but I guess we won’t know until the reports are confirmed!
It took forever for the Kardashians to be invited to the Met Gala, but for the past few years, their attendance at the annual fashion event has been pretty much guaranteed. In fact, last year, every single one of them showed up—including Khloé Kardashian.
However! Page Six is out here reporting that America’s First Reality Family won’t be on the 2023 guest list thanks to Anna Wintour “cracking down” on who makes the cut. According to one source who spoke to the outlet, “no Kardashians” will be invited. However, another source disputed this and said that’s “not true.”
Sooo…truly, who knows what to think!
Either way, there’s always been a lot of speculation about the Kardashians (specifically Khloé) being “banned” from the Met Gala at various times, which Khloé herself shut down on Twitter:
Khloé also revealed that she’d turned down past invites during Hulu’s The Kardashians, saying, “I have been invited in the past. I just opted not to go. I’m not big on red carpets. I think I’ve made that very clear.” She added that Kim ended up convincing her to go last year, explaining, “Good old Kimberly has a way with words. And I am also sort of a pushover with some things, and I guess I allowed her to push me over.”
Meanwhile, Kim made her Met Gala debut in 2013, and the experience was pretty stressful for her. As she put it on Twitter, “Year 1 2013 Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. I was Kanye’s plus one & so nervous! I didn’t know anyone & I’m sure no one wanted me there lol. I did my own lipstick & the color is so off. I went home & cried after of insecurity but this is one of my fave looks now.”
