Spring 2022 fashion trends that you’ll actually want in your wardrobe (2024)

Feathers

Feather fringing which was a popular way to glam up PJs during lockdown has now progressed in the fashion world and they’re now everywhere.

Go all out with a feather bandeau, but if you’re looking for a nod to the trend, accessories are the way to go here.

We’re loving the fringed heels which despite being trend-led look really chic and timeless.

Now we know what you’re thinking – how do you wash feather items? Well, it turns out you do need to be pretty careful because they’ll get completely ruined in a washing machine. Feather items need gentle handwashing in cool water with a baby shampoo or light detergent.

Worth the effort, in our opinion.

Bum bags

Probably the most practical and high-functioning of the Spring 2022 trends, bumbags are something we can get behind (pun not intended).

The most fashionable way to wear them, as seen at the various Fashion Weeks this year, is actually across the body. But it’s not the most comfortable for bigger busted women. We prefer the traditional way of wearing them around the waist.

They’re a surprisingly liberating accessory, holding your phone, keys, wallet and worldly belongings with no shoulder hunching or clutching required.

Platform Shoes

There are platform shoes and platform shoes – this trend has been taken to the extreme this year, with models toppling over like skittles on catwalks across fashion week.

We are a fan of the trend though. Platform heels are so much easier to walk in than tottering about in sandals or stilettos.

And even better are the platform flats a la Dr Martens and our latest discovery, the super comfy Kudd.ly slides. Taller and more comfortable? Win-win.

Metallic

Metallic textures and sheer fabrics were everywhere on the Spring / Summer catwalk shows.

A trend guaranteed to add bling and glamour to day or night, these pieces really add fun to any outfit.

And we’re not just sticking to gold, silver and bronze either. This year’s metallics are super bright. Colour clash for extra fashion points.

Oversized Bags

Big bags are back. Originally made big by the Olsen twins in the noughties, these bags can literally fit the kitchen sink.

We’ve found a couple of North East independent businesses who are behind this trend. Kaleidoscope Textiles do fab vegan leather origami bags which come in various sizes (our favourite is the large, obvs). Whilst Found and Curated Vintage handmake their huge bags using fabric offcuts. Sustainable and fashionable.

Bright Tailoring

Perhaps our most favourite trend of them all, we’ve saved the best ’til last.

Bright colours are going to be everywhere this Spring / Summer, injecting much-needed optimism and positivity into our wardrobes.
