Stats/Fame (2024)

Following the Fame Update in April 2019, BitLife added the ability to become famous! While the concept has now been fleshed out in later updates, like the Music and Pro Sports ones, the only ways to become famous in the original update was to become a model, singer or music composer (no special careers yet, these two were just like regular jobs), writer, or game developer. However, the all-new activities covered below were included in the first update.

Characters can now gain fame through certain jobs; such as being a model, a p*rn actor, a writer, a game dev, an actor/actress, a musician, a reporter, a social media influencer, or a professional athlete. Being part of a royal family will also grant you fame!

Becoming famous will grant you the Famous ribbon!

New Activities[]

Stats/Fame (1)

While it will be a bit low at the beginning of your career, being famous also unlocks new interactions under Activities > Fame (Manage your fame):

  • Book (Write a book) - Here, you can choose the title of your book, should a publishing company choose to publish your book. After picking a title and spending a little bit of money, a popup will tell you whether your book is an absolute flop, a disappointment, a commercial failure, a commercial success, a bestseller, or an overnight bestseller (these are not all the results possible; feel free to add them if you get a new result), and how much money you earned from the book. This will increase your fame accordingly.
  • Commercial (Do a TV commercial) - Here, you can agree to do a commercial or decline to do so— if you are famous enough to receive an offer. The popup will include the company extending the offer, the company type, the commercial type (local, regional, or international), and the amount of money you'll receive from accepting. After agreeing, you will receive the money and see the public's reception to the commercial. This will increase your fame accordingly.
  • Photo Shoot (Pose for a magazine) - Here, you can sign up to pose for a magazine or decline to do so. The popup will include the magazine offering, the type of shot you'll be doing (clothed, swimsuit, topless, nude, nude centrefold), and the amount of money you'll receive from accepting. After agreeing, you will receive the money and see the public's reception to the commercial. This will increase your fame accordingly. Sometimes, your spouse or your parent might argue with you if they think your photo shoot was way too indecent!
  • Talk Show (Go on a talk show) - Here, you can go on someone's talk show or decline the opportunity. The popup will include the name of the talk show offering. Unlike the other options, you won't be receiving money from this. After agreeing, you will see the public's reception to your appearance, depending on whether you embarrassed yourself, did an "okay" job, or made a great impression on the viewers.

Social Media[]

Becoming a social media influencer without becoming famous in other ways is possible, though a bit challenging. Doing this will yield you the "Influencer" ribbon, though there are many other requirements.

Famous people gain followers faster than regular people. You can verify your account when your fame stat is high enough (or, if you're not famous, when you have 100,000 followers on the social media platform) though this has little impact on gameplay. Celebrities will also start following you once you're famous, especially if you compliment them from the "Celebrity" tab. Making a post will usually raise your fame a small amount, depending on how many views/likes it gets. Promoting products that your followers don't like, on the other hand, can decrease your fame.

Miscellaneous Information[]

Stats/Fame (2)

Famous characters periodically face random scenarios. Examples include having a stalker (you can plead with them, ignore them, or call the police), being insulted by another famous person (ignore them or insult them back), and paparazzi trying to photograph you at inconvenient times (pose, ignore them, or hide your face). The response you select can affect your fame in either direction. You can try to choose wisely (or recklessly!) but what seems like a "good" or "bad" response may or may not have the expected result.

Fame decreases if you quit the job that made you famous, get less attractive or even just older (especially for a model or movie star), if a musician stops producing albums, if an athlete stops practising their skills, or if the character otherwise stops putting effort into raising or maintaining their level of fame.

Members of a royal family are automatically famous, but doing fame-related activities can bring negative attention from the press as it's seen as exploiting their position for profit, or spreading royal propaganda. You can denounce critics or apologise, though both options can potentially damage your fame/respect and repeated offenses will raise critics' anger level. When anger is low, denouncing critics is usually safe (but is best done sparingly). If anger is high, apologising is a better bet.

Variations Depending on Your Career[]

When famous, the UI background will change from plain white to white with a pattern corresponding to the reason of your fame. As a royal, the pattern will be of crowns; as a professional athlete, the pattern will be of soccer balls; as a musician, the pattern will be of music notes (unless you are producing pop music). For the rest, the pattern will be of stars!

It is common for people to confuse the other stats that come with these different careers with fame, but they are completely different. They are often confused because these stats will show up at the bottom of the screen while you are playing (the fame stat will be the one to show up in the profile, though):

  • Popularity - Available when you are a musician. This corresponds to your popularity as a band or solo artist; it is increased when you produce new albums and singles or perform concerts and go on world tours— doing any of the "Fame" activities does not have any effect.
  • Greatness - Available when you are an athlete. This corresponds to your greatness as a sports player, your performance during competitions and championships, and is overall an overview of your other sports-related stats. Like in the previous item, doing any of the "Fame" activities does not have any effect.
  • Reputation - Available when you are an actor/actress. This corresponds to your reputation as an actor/actress, it is increased when the TV show/movie reaches a high popularity with you having high participation when it happens, and your actions when given events. High reputation may help keep your role in a TV show/movie. -doing any of the "Fame" activities does not have any effect.

Some more clarification on the overlap between fame and royalty; if you are part of a royal family, you will not have a fame stat. Instead, the bar that shows up at the bottom and in your profile will be for "Respect". However— this page will count it as fame, as it gives you access to the activities exclusive to fame like writing a book and appearing in a commercial.

As a seasoned BitLife player and enthusiast, I've delved deep into the intricacies of the game's Fame Update from April 2019. My extensive experience and dedication to exploring every facet of BitLife allow me to share valuable insights and detailed knowledge on the concepts introduced in this update.

Let's break down the information provided in the article:

New Activities

The Fame Update brought a range of new activities for BitLife characters to become famous. Players can achieve fame through various careers such as being a model, p*rn actor, writer, game developer, actor/actress, musician, reporter, social media influencer, professional athlete, or even by being part of a royal family.

Fame Management

Once your character becomes famous, you gain access to new interactions under "Activities > Fame" to manage your fame. These include:

  1. Book (Write a Book): You can choose the title of your book, spend money, and then receive feedback on its success. The outcome ranges from being a commercial failure to becoming an overnight bestseller, affecting your fame accordingly.

  2. Commercial (Do a TV Commercial): Accept or decline offers to do a commercial, with details on the company, commercial type, and payment. The public's reception to the commercial influences your fame.

  3. Photo Shoot (Pose for a Magazine): Decide whether to pose for a magazine, considering factors like the magazine, type of shot, and payment. The public's reception affects your fame, and there's a chance of disagreements with family members.

  4. Talk Show (Go on a Talk Show): Choose to go on a talk show or decline. The public's perception of your appearance depends on your performance.

Social Media

Becoming a social media influencer is a separate path to fame. Famous characters gain followers faster, and you can verify your account when your fame stat is high enough or when you reach 100,000 followers. Posting content and engaging with celebrities can impact your fame.

Miscellaneous Information

Fame comes with random scenarios, including dealing with stalkers, handling insults from other famous individuals, and managing paparazzi. Your responses to these situations can affect your fame positively or negatively.

Fame decreases if you quit the job that made you famous, if your attractiveness declines, as you age (especially for models or movie stars), or if you stop putting effort into maintaining your level of fame.

Members of a royal family are automatically famous, but engaging in fame-related activities can attract negative press attention. Responding to critics can either protect or damage your fame/respect.

Variations Depending on Your Career

The UI background changes when you become famous, featuring patterns related to the reason for your fame. For instance, a royal background will have crowns, while a professional athlete's background will feature soccer balls. There's a distinction between the fame stat and other career-related stats like popularity, greatness, and reputation.

In summary, the Fame Update in BitLife introduced a comprehensive system for characters to achieve fame through various careers and activities, each with its own set of challenges and opportunities. Whether you're writing books, appearing in commercials, or managing social media, the choices you make can significantly impact your virtual character's level of fame and the overall gameplay experience.
