Target has made a change to its brand assortment, getting rid of some old favorites in anticipation of the introduction of some new designers. Names you may be familiar with, like Merona and Mossimo, will no longer be available at the affordable retail chain at the end of 2019, The Wall Street Journal reports. (NOOOOOOOOO.) The change will be ongoing and has already begun the early phases of the revamp.
Target has already begun phasing out the Cherokee and Circo lines for children, replacing them with a new assortment under the Cat & Jack label. It has also added Art Class, which is a line for older children, reports the publication. In addition, the WSJ states that the retail giant will be rolling out more than 12 new brands that will be exclusive to Target. Included will be names such as A New Day for women, Goodfellow & Co for men, and JoyLab, which will be home to “edgier” athleisure. (OK, now I can get on board.)
Target’s executive vice president stated in a press release: “Our new brands are all about the changing face of our guests — what theyneed,what they're looking for from Target.” He continued, “When we took a close look at our existing assortment with this in mind, we saw a disconnect.”
Cosmopolitan reports that the assortment at the end of two years will have replaced more than half of the brand’s clothing and accessory lines and more than one third of its home decor selection with the goal of elevating the brand as a whole.
So basically, prepare to love Target even more.
