Hands down, this Sunday is the best day of the year to buy Target store gift cards.
For one-day only Dec. 8, you can save 10% on Target gift card purchases up to $300 in stores and online. Target announced the Sunday special, which is part of its weekend "HoliDeals,"in a blog post.
With gift cards continuing to be themost popular holiday gift, this is a rare chance to stock up and save on Target gift cards for gifts or to keep for yourself.
For the 13th year in a row, the National Retail Federation found gift cards were the most popular item on holiday wish lists and requested by59% of those surveyed.
The cards will be redeemable starting at 10 a.m. CT Dec. 9.

Gift cards can be added to the Target app to redeem at checkoutand used with the new Target Circle loyalty program, which launched nationwide in October. With the free program, members can earn 1% on every purchase toredeem on a future Target trip and take advantage of other discounts.
Shoppers with a Target RedCard credit or debit cardaren’t eligible to earn 1% with the loyalty programwhen they pay with a store-branded card but will continue to get 5% off store purchases including selectgift cards year round. However, store gift cards are excluded from the cardholder perk.
Target has another "HoliDeal" promotion.Through Sunday, get a free $10 gift card when spending $30 on beauty products.
According to the Dec. 8 weekly ad posted at Target.com, through Dec. 14, select gaming gift cards are buy one,get one 10% off and there are coupons for $10 off a $50 toy purchase and $25 off a $100 toy purchase. Some exclusions apply.
The fine print
Here are a few other caveats of the gift card sale:
- The minimum gift card purchaseis $10,and the maximum is $300 with a $30 maximum discountper household.
- The limit is one transactionof up to $300 in Target gift cards onTarget.com.
- The offer doesn’t includeTarget Visa gift cards, Target MasterCard gift cards, Target American Express gift cardsorgift cards that other retailers have for sale in the store.
- Offer excludes reloads of previously purchased Target gift cards and cardsgiven in exchange for electronic or prepaid trade-ins, cards provided for merchandise returns and cards provided as free promotional card with qualifying purchase.
