The Healthy Snacks That Models Eat - Beauticate (2024)

With the party season upon us, it’s safe to say the likes of Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes and Candice Swanepoel won’t be gorging on an In-N-Out burger with a side of fries anytime soon. For us mere mortals, burgers are definitely on the horizon, but an injection of model mentality wouldn’t go astray.

1. NORI CHIPS

ADD SOME GUILT-FREE CALORIES TO YOUR NORI CHIPS WITH THESE DELICATELYSCRUMPTIOUS TUNA TARTARE NORI BITES BY HONESTLY YUM

A type of seaweed, sea green, sea vegetable – whatever you want to call it, Nori needs to find a place in your pantry. Typically used as the seaweed that wraps sushi, this healthy snack is loved by Miranda Kerr (we’ll have what she’s having). Easy to prepare, simply crisp it up by baking in the oven and sprinkle with salt, sesame seeds or brush with teriyaki or soy. You’ll have a delicious high-protein snack with virtually zero calories plus the added benefits of zinc, potassium, calcium, Vitamin A and C. It’s also high in fibre helping you to feel fuller for longer and to break down fat deposits. The best part is that, unlike fish, sea vegetables absorb fewer toxins from the ocean, and it’s found that women who consume high amounts of these sea vegetables have lower rates of getting breast cancer. Need we say more?

2. RICE PAPER

A staple of the South-Eastern Asian diet, rice paper is a great substitute for bread in preparation for summer. Not only does it clock in at only 31 calories per serving helping you to lose weight, they are also incredibly easy to use and store as well (a perfect candidate for the more neglected pantry). There are many ways to incorporate rice paper into your snacks, whether it be through Vietnamese rolls, raw ravioli, rice paper chips, dumplings and more. The subtle flavour allows rice paper to hold an array of flavours all while providing heartiness to a snack.

3. FROZEN BANANA

Throughout your summer adventures, always and we mean, always, have the trusty frozen banana on hand (supermodel Robyn Lawley swears by them). Aside from being high in both vitamins and antioxidants, bananas hold a plethora of health benefits like lowering depression and blood pressure, providing relief to stomach ulcers, acid reflux and controlling blood sugar, while preventing diseases like type II diabetes. At only 100 calories per serve, consumption of bananas also maximises your post work out recovery due to their rich potassium density, which assists in overall weight loss. On the trivial side of things, if you suffer from a splinter on your foot, consume a banana and tape the peel to the affected area, cover with a sock and keep on overnight. In the morning you’ll be splinter free! Is there anything our yellow friend can’t do?

4. PISTACHIO

Otherwise known as the miracle snack that takes an inch off your waist, the pistachio is the underdog in the nut world (and we should mention that Alessandra Ambrosio is a big fan of these little green guys).Although naturally high in fat they make a great snack with around 30 nuts weighing in at 100 calories. Eaten in moderation these underestimated nuts not only lower body weight but also lower blood pressure as they contain l-arginine which helps the lining of the arteries to become flexible and less likely to clot. Opt for pistachios with the shell as studies have shown it can prevent you from over consumption.

5. COCONUT FROZEN YOGHURT

If you haven’t already, you need to run (not walk) to the nearest grocer and pick yourself up a jar of coconut butter to make yourself the best healthy snack you’ll ever come to know. If you haven’t got time to make it, a lot of organic cafes are hopping on the band wagon making coconut frozen yoghurt easy to come by. Extracted through the meat of the coconut, coconut oil and butter is phenomenal for skin and hair as it’s high in protein, copper and fatty acids along with having antibacterial and antiviral properties. All you have to do is pop it in a blender with some greek yoghurt, healthy sweetener and whatever other ingredients you see fit (yes, it’s that easy!).If that wasn’t enough, coconut butter has been proven to alleviate wrinkles along with preventing onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Sprinkle your coconut frozen yoghurt with coconut flakes, cacao nibs or mixed fruit and you’ve got the best tasting snack on your hands with very few calories.
