Did you need your holiday season to feel a little more “marvelous” — and not in the Avengers-adjacent meaning of the word? The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 is now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service.
The third season of the Emmy-winning series picks up right where the second season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel left off. Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) is hitting the road with singer Shy Baldwin (LeRoy McClain), her parents are in meltdown after her father (Tony Shalhoub) quits his jobs at Columbia and Bell Labs, and things are the Facebook definition of “it’s complicated” with her ex, Joel (Michael Zegen).
Strutting into this drama is Emmy-winning actor Sterling K. Brown. The This is Us star joins the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel this season. So what is Sterling K. Brown’s role this season? How is he connected to Mrs. Maisel’s comedy career? And what does all this have to do with Shy Baldwin?
Here’s everything you need to know about Sterling K. Brown on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3.
WHO DOES STERLING K. BROWN PLAY IN THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL SEASON 3?
Sterling K. Brown joins the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3, playing Shy Baldwin’s best friend and manager, Reggie. We learn in the Season 3 premiere that Reggie uses a white proxy manager to help Shy get into white venues, but that he calls all the shots in Shy’s life. In fact, Reggie seems intensely protective of Shy Baldwin.
WHO PLAYS SHY BALDWIN ON THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL? WAS SHY BALDWIN A REAL PERSON? WHO IS SHY BALDWIN BASED ON?
British-born actor LeRoy McClain plays Shy Baldwin on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He’s got a slew of theater credits to his name, and you may have seen him on The Good Fight, Blue Bloods, or in the film The Adjustment Bureau.
Shy Baldwin wasn’t a real person, and is a fictional character invented for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. However, his style and level of fame recalls to mind the success of Nat King Cole in the 1950s and 1960s. Rachel Brosnahan recently confirmed that the character is based on a number of singers from that era, including Johnny Mathis, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Bobby Darin.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 is now streaming on Prime Video.
