If you enter the PIN (Personal Identification Number) code incorrectly several times, the SIM card will be locked. You need the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code to unlock the device. The PIN and PUK codes are used to protect your subscription and device against unauthorized use. Contact your network operator to get help with your PIN and PUK codes.

Unlock a blocked SIM card using the PUK code

  1. Enter the PUK code, and then tap OK or the arrow.
  2. Enter a new PIN code, and then tap OK or the arrow.
  3. Re-enter the new PIN code, and then tap OK or the arrow.

Note: If you enter an incorrect PUK code too many times, you need to contact your network operator to get a new SIM card.

SIM card protection

You can lock and unlock each SIM card you use on your device with a PIN (Personal Identity Number). When a SIM card is locked, the subscription linked to the card is protected against misuse, meaning that you have to enter a PIN every time you start your device.

Lock or unlock a SIM card

  • Android 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

    1. Find and tap SettingsSecurity → (More security settings) → → SIM card lock/ SIM lock.
    2. Tap the switch beside Lock SIM card to lock or unlock the SIM card.
    3. Enter the SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
  • Android 9

    1. Find and tap SettingsLock screen & securityAdvancedSIM card lock.
    2. Tap the switch beside Lock SIM card to lock or unlock the SIM card.
    3. Enter the SIM card PIN, then tap OK.

Change the SIM card PIN

  • Android 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

    1. Find and tap SettingsSecurity → (More security settings) → → SIM card lock/ SIM lock.
    2. Tap Change SIM PIN.
    3. Enter the old SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
    4. Enter the new SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
    5. Re-type the new SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
  • Android 9

    1. Find and tap SettingsLock screen & securityAdvancedSIM card lock.
    2. Tap Change SIM PIN.
    3. Enter the old SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
    4. Enter the new SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
    5. Re-type the new SIM card PIN, then tap OK.
