WHAT’S LIVING IN Mid-Wilshire LIKE?

Mid-Wilshire is also referred to as the "Miracle Mile" thanks to its history as the first main thoroughfare in Los Angeles built for car traffic and its many Art Deco-style buildings that housed major retailers in the 1920s and 1930s. Today those buildings still remain and Mid-Wilshire's cultural significance to the city has only grown stronger: art buffs can visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Petersen Automotive Museum, the A+D Museum, the Craft and Folk Art Museum, and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. It's also home to the beautifulWiltern Theatre and historic El Capitan Theatre, as well as the La Brea Tar Pits.

There are some good dining options here, ranging from food trucks to Japanese to BBQ to Ethiopian to burger joints. A number of dive bars and sports bars provide the limited nightlife options. Shopping is mostly limited to discount chain stores, some women's clothing boutiques, and home goods stores.

On Mid-Wilshire's main roads are large, sometimes luxurious apartment buildings. But itsside streets are lined with modest homes (and some not-so-modest homes) and small apartment of2 to 4 units.

Mid-Wilshire is bordered on the north by Fairfax, Hanco*ck Park, and Windsor Square, on the east by Koreatown and Arlington Heights, on the south by Mid-City, andon the west by Beverly Grove and Carthay.

Commute:
Burbank: 10.1 miles / 25-60minutes by car / 70minutes by transit
Century City: 5 miles / 15-40minutes by car / 35 minutes by transit
Downtown LA: 7.2 miles / 20-40 minutes by car / 35-40minutes by transit
