'The Ultimatum's Randall And Shanique Are Taking A Big Step In Their 'Ship (2024)

  • Randall and Shanique put their relationship to the test on Netflix's The Ultimatum.
  • After a year and a half of dating, Shanique gave Randall an ultimatum, which landed them on the show.
  • So, are they still together? Women's Health interviewed Randall and Shanique to find out where their relationship stands.

With the premiere of Netflix's The Ultimatum and the recently dropped finale and reunion episodes, fans are looking for clues as to who ends up walking down the aisle (and who breaks up for good).

Since filming for the series ended in May 2021, there has been plenty of time for new relationship *developments*. And, when it came time to look through the evidence, it was relatively easy to put the pieces together—especially for couple Randall Griffin and Shanique Imari.

For context, Shanique, who was 24 during filming, gave Randall, then 26, an ultimatum after a year and a half of dating. During the season, they had to decide whether to get married or move on for good.

The previews indicated that their 'ship status could go either way. So Women's Health sat down with the pair to get the real scoop. If you're looking for more details, keep reading:

What happens between Randall and Shanique on the show?

If you need a refresher, here's Randall:

And here's Shanique:

In one of the trailers, Shanique holds her left hand up during a confessional and says "I want a ring on this finger."

In another clip, Randall says, "Have I thought about spending the rest of my life with you? Absolutely."

Later on, Shanique is seen crying in a silver dress as she stands with Randall, who's dressed in a suit. So while there will definitely be drama, their conversations seem optimistic.

We already know the couple got engaged on the show, but broke it off sometime after filming. So where does that leave them now?

They're on good terms on social media.

As of right now, Shanique and Randall still follow each other on IG, but the only photo of the two of them is on Randall's feed from May 2021. The pair took a vacation to Jamaica, which is also where Shanique is from. Could it have been a trip to visit family?

They also still have several flirtatious comments on posts as frequent as February that hint that they may still be together. In one photo, Shanique is posing in clothing from her brand. A follower asked if she was looking for a partner, to which she replied, "got one. Be easy✨."

Up until right before each of them posted the trailer for The Ultimatum, they've been active on each other feeds and may have archived their photos together for the sake of the show. But even if they broke up within the last two months, they still seem to be on good terms.

Venmo hinted at potential wedding bells.

Leave it to WH to be your personal FBI agents.

Shanique and Randall's recent Venmo transactions hinted that they might soon be heading to the altar. They both paid someone by the name of Brenda Castro for tailored suits.

These transactions were a month apart, so if they were tailoring wedding suits specifically, they could have been paying for multiple rounds of alterations.

Shanique and Randall are happy with their decision to go on The Ultimatum.

Going into the series, Randall said he felt like he could sympathize with some of his co-stars. "For the people that were given the ultimatum, I see why they were given it because I was given the ultimatum as well," he told Women's Health. "So I kind of could relate to them in different ways."

But ups and downs aside, both Randall and Shanique say they learned a lot from being on the show. "We learned—for me, at least—just to be more vocal in a relationship," Randall said. "And I think Shanique also learned just to be more communicative as well as listen a lot more. So I just think it both helped us in different ways."

Shanique agreed, explaining that The Ultimatum helped her realize how to listen to a partner, a.k.a. "what they're saying and also what they might mean by that."

"It kind of made us just break those walls down and it just showed things we need to work on and also showed things we need to get out of our partner," Randall added.

So, are they still together?

Now that the finale and reunion episodes are officially out, WH can confirm: the couple is still together! In fact, they're moving in together.

“We move in in May. We just got the keys,” Randall shared with WH.

Turns out the two now have “a little house” in Austin, Texas. (It’s actually a 3-bedroom!) “It's been a fun process just kind of putting our minds together and our tastes and our likes and dislikes and just working through it,” Shanique said.

The pair are still friends with their fellow cast members.

In case you were wondering, yes, the cast is still super close and keep up with each other in a group chat. Shanique told WH that Jake and Rae are still "pretty close friends." And Randall added that they still hang out with the other cast members who live in Austin.

In fact, right after the reunion episode dropped, Rae posted an Instagram story with Shanique with the caption: "I love you. My friendship with you is one of the only reasons I don't regret going on the show."

While the couple is taking things slow, they said they're super happy for fellow cast members Madlyn and Colby. (Spoiler alert: They are pregnant!)

“I was like, 'Wow, that happened fast,' you know? But I'm definitely happy for them and proud of them. And I know that's something Colby wanted,” Randall said. "They're starting their lives being 'Mom' and 'Dad,' and we're gonna be the uncles and aunties."

Shanique said Madlyn "looked beautiful" and "really, really happy" at the reunion. "I'm just glad that things worked out for them the way that it did. Obviously, it's a big decision to make, to start a family, and if they felt like that was right for them, kudos to them," she said.

Did Randall and Shanique get married?

They are not currently engaged, and the pair told WH that they have not started planning a wedding yet.

The couple has their own exciting life step coming up with their new home, and Shanique said they are happy with the place their relationship is in right now.

“I think it all worked out for the greater good. I think everybody's happy with their decision from what I've seen, and I'm pretty sure everybody is proud of themselves for what they did,” Randall said.

WH will be keeping an eye on this couple!
