Disney on Ice is a great show for families with kids. We’ve experienced the performance twice now and our kids ages 7, 5 and 3 have loved it. The experience is magical and the talented ice skaters are fun and inspiring! This year we attended Disney on Ice Mickey’s Search Party, as well as Storytime with Belle before the show. Our kids dressed up and enjoyed every minute of our family night out! Here are a few tips and things to wear to Disney on Ice for a memorable night.

Kids Can Dress Up

When you go to Disney on Ice, kids should definitely dress up! My girls typically want to wear fancy dresses to Disney on Ice and dress up as their favorite Disney princess. Our son usually just wants to wear a cape or Mickey Mouse ears. This year he wore fuzzy orange wolf ears. Families can also purchase accessories at the show to wear to Disney on Ice.

Eat Dinner Before

The Disney on Ice evening show starts at 7 pm, so it’s helpful to eat dinner before so kids don’t get hungry during the show. We went out for pizza right across the street before we saw the Disney on Ice Mickey’s Search Party show. Enjoying dinner and the show is a great way to enjoy a family night out! You can also buy snacks such as popcorn and treats at the performance center.

Attend Storytime with Belle

We saw the Disney on Ice Mickey’s Search Party show at Angel of the Winds Area during our family trip to Seattle, Washington. In additional to our show tickets, we received tickets to attend Storytime with Belle before the show. These tickets can be purchased as a pre-show add-on when you buy your Disney on Ice tickets.

At Storytime with Belle, our kids enjoyed a few snacks and had the chance to listen to an engaging story told by Belle, complete with interactive sounds and actions. Storytime with Belle was a special activity for our young kids. Each child and family also had the chance to take photos with Belle and Mickey Mouse!

Watch Disney on Ice Mickey’s Search Party

If you haven’t been to Disney on Ice, it’s helpful to look up the show summary so you have an idea of which characters will appear. Last year we went to Disney on Ice Dare to Dream which highlighted many of the Disney princesses. This year Mickey’s Search Party featured the Toy Story crew, Belle, Miguel from Coco, Aladdin & Jasmine, The Little Mermaid characters, Elsa & Anna and more!

Disney on Ice Mickey’s Search Party begins with Tinkerbell dancing across the ice. Mickey asks her to fill up the “magic meter” with her pixie dust but the meter is emptied after Captain Hook’s crew trick Tinkerbell into being trapped in a lantern. The show follows some of Disney’s most beloved characters as they discover how to make their own magic to fill up the magic meter again and release Tinkerbell.

When you go see a Disney on Ice show, it can be helpful to bring a few things with you.

Wear Long Sleeves

Since the show is performed on ice, the arena can get a little chilly! It’s helpful to bring a sweater or light jacket for each person in your family so no one gets cold during the show. My kids layered with long sleeve shirts under their t-shirts and dresses.

Bring Binoculars

Kids will have fun seeing the ice skaters up close through binoculars! The furthest seats in many arenas still provide a clear view of the show, but some seats give you a closer view than others. Kids can use binoculars to get an up-close view of all the glittery outfits and ice skating tricks!

Enjoy a Spectacular Ice Performance

Our family really enjoyed the colorful show! The lively skaters constantly provided something new to see and many of the stories included aerial performances. Even adults will think it’s amazing to see how the ice skaters and technical crew recreates story highlights such as Belle’s dining room experience, Moana’s fire demon encounter and Elsa’s ice castle.

I especially was impressed by this show’s inclusion of old classics as well as newer Disney stories. Girls and boys get a magical look at their favorite characters live on the ice.

Disney On Ice Mickey’s Search Party is a brand-new adventure filled with world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics and unexpected stunts! Help Mickey and friends follow Captain Hook’s treasure map and look for clues in the search for Tinker Bell in immersive, fantastic worlds.

Families can explore the colorful spirit realm of Coco in Miguel’s Disney On Ice debut and sail away with Moana as she bravely saves her island. See Belle in the sky above you as the enchanted chandelier comes to life and sing along with Elsa in the icy world of Frozen. The search party becomes an all-out magical celebration with beloved characters from Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid!
