This U.S. city is most like Indianapolis, according to a New York Times tool (1)

Love Indianapolis but need a change of scenery? Or a place with less potholes? The New York Times made a tool to help you find where to go.

The Times partnered with a job search website called Indeedto create a toolthat calculates what American city is most similar to yours. To be clear, this tool doesn't look at weather or culture or potholes per square mile. It's purely a look at what cities are similar in terms of job demand, telling you how easy it would be to find a new gig if you moved elsewhere.

For instance, going by their job mixes, Atlantais most like Dallas, Kansas City is most like Nashville and Philadelphia is most like Chicago.

That made us wonder: What is Indianapolis' twin?

Turns out, the Minneapolis to our St. Paul is Louisville, Ky. Our twin city is just 111 miles to the south.

Spring showers:Rainfall amount hits single-day April record

Bob Knight movie:ESPN's new '30 for 30' won't be on television

Dining out:The Old Spaghetti Factory to open second Indiana restaurant in Carmel

Here's how similar the tool says Indianapolis and Louisville are: The two most similar cities in the U.S. are Dallas and Atlanta, and on a scale of 0 to 100, their similarity score is 85. Indianapolis' and Louisville's similarity score is 81.

Here's why The Times says they're so similar: On Indeed, both cities have an unusually high number of job listings for patient assistants, front-end associates and grill cooks. Louisville must love steakhouses as much as Indianapolis.

But get this: Each city also has more than one twin. Most twin matches on the tool are often in the same state or region of the country. To account for that, The Times also calculated what cities from each region are most similar to your chosen city. The northeastern equivalent of Indianapolis? Allentown, Pa. The western twin? Portland, Ore.

And if you're curious about who Indianapolis' Clinton-voting twin is, it's Cleveland, Ohio.

So now, if you're wondering what the Indianapolis of the _____ is, you have your answer. Hopefully Amazon doesn't find this tool; Indianapolis isn't even one of the 10 most similar cities to Seattle. If the company were basing its headquarters decision off what city is most similar to its hometown, it would have two options.

Boston and Portland, Ore.

Play around with the tool here.
