For over five decades, girl groups have been responsible for some of the most enduring singles in modern pop music. From “Wannabe” to “Weak,” from the heyday of Motown to the explosion of 80’s pop-rock to the R&B collectives of the 2000’s and everything in between, girl groups have evolved and triumphed on top 40 radio and beyond, and the Billboard Hot 100 chart wouldn’t look quite the same without them.
