A gateway into Scandinavia, Copenhagen is a dynamic mix of the old and the new. Old traditions shine through with its narrow streets, canals, and beautiful historic buildings. On the new, the city is dotted with incredibly progressive modern architecture, a great transit system, and may just be one of the cleanest cities in Europe.

It’s no secret that Copenhagen isn’t the cheapest city to stay in. A good four-star hotel easily starts at $120 and up. Although much popular than it was 5 years ago, most people don’t consider Airbnb rentals when looking for cheapCopenhagen hotels.

What’s my favourite thing to do in Copenhagen?

  • For those on a budget, riding the bike around the city is an awesome way to get to know Copenhagen. Rentals are super cheap. If you’re looking for the most popular activity, that has to be the 1 hour canal cruise from Gammel Strand. There are more recommendations like this down below!

Top 5 Airbnb Rentals on a Budget in Copenhagen (1)

With this post I wanted to filter through all the Airbnb rentals in Copenhagen to present to you the top five properties that are just as good, if not better than a four-star hotel without breaking the bank. All of the rentals listed below are under $120.

Criteria of picking the top Copenhagen Airbnbs

I judged each property for the following:

  • Location
  • Space and size
  • Amenities
  • Reviews
  • Price

In order to make the ranking manageable, I reviewed the top 18 properties provided by Airbnb based on double occupancy. From there, I individually ranked each property based on the criteria above.

So without further ado here is my top 5 list of Copenhagen Airbnb.

1)Trendy Nørrebro close by popular sites

Located in the trendy neighbourhood of Nørrebro, this is a private room in an extremely spacious room and fitted with a Queen-sized bed, work table, and closet.

For those that don’t know about Nørrebro, it’s fast becoming THE spot to be for upcoming designers and is also known to be a hub for alternative diets and vegan food. You’ll find plenty of bars and hang-out spots here. There’s also a bike rental store just around the corner from this apartment.

This is a cozy room with tons of light. You’ll also have access to a shared bathroom and kitchen during your stay.

Book with confidence with superhost Helle. I’ve seen rates as low as $59 USD a night which is a pretty sweet deal.

This is a beautiful flat in the old part of the city. You’ll be in perfect position to explore the townhall, Tivoli, and Strøget.

The room has two single beds with access to shared facilities such as the washing machine, dryer, kitchen, and bathroom.

Dog-lovers will be excited about superhost Sofia’s friendly dog that comes all the way from the mountains of Nepal.

Just imagine rolling out of bedand leveraging your 48 hour Copenhagen Hop-On Hop-Off Passright out of the gate.

At a sub $100 price (I’ve seen this at $76 USD a night), this place is a steal!

3) Lovely Room in a Charming Neighborhood

Host, Baard calls it as he sees it. I would have liked to have ranked this even higher with the only full five star rating based on reviews but one disadvantage I had to nit-pick on was its location being a little further out in Christianshavn. That’s not to say that it’s incredibly far but it’s just not walking distance to the core. Beyond the location, everything else is near perfect. Baard’s apartment is cosy, inviting, and tidy. If you’re looking for free parking, this property has it as well – a rare thing in a city like Copenhagen.

Withold quaint houses, cobble stone streets, and the canal just outside the apartment, you’ll feel just at home.

Since you’re out there you might even want to do a 1.5 hour tour of the freetown of Christiana to get a glimpse into the hipster part of the city.

4) Copenhagen Airbnb in the heart of the city

Top 5 Airbnb Rentals on a Budget in Copenhagen (6)

This Airbnb in Copenhagen is located right in the middle of the city practically right next to Tivoli, The Planetarium of Copenhagen (what you see above) and the main train station (only a 5 minute walk).

This is a great room with a queen-sized bed and on the 5th floor with great views.

It’s a great place to stay for couples or solo travellers with convenient access to tons of restaurants, shops, and cafe’s and a perfect launch-pad and explore Copenhagen by bike.

The room also has a fridge, coffee and tea, hair dryer, shampoo, towels, and water boiler.

I’ve seen rates as low as $73 USD a night.

5) værelse til leje which literally translates to “Room for Rent”

I love how the host Pia gets right to the point with her listing. This is not only just a room for rent but it’s a cheap one at that.

With close to 500 reviews, this property averages around $62 USD per night and is good for 2 guests.

This Airbnb is 10 minutes walk from Copenhagen’s main street, Istedgade, which has a ton of shops, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. You’re also not far from Tivoli, the train station, and Stroget as well.

The room itself features a double bed with desk and access to shower, and kitchen.

One guest recently said:

Pia’s room was spacious and had ample personal space. The smell of smoke was apparent but I didn’t feel that it overpowered the flat. The area was very convenient however very noisy- I stayed Wednesday and Thursday night and was awoken many times by loud music and people outside. Overall location and room were great!
