Travel Insurance Questions and Answers

Finding the best travel health insurance for you and your family can be complicated and confusing, that’s why we have put together this list of frequently asked questions. If we do not answer your question here, our expert team is available below to answer any questions you might have.

Do your plans really cover coronavirus illnesses?

Yes! Unlike other products on the market, there are no exclusions related to travel advisories, CDC Warnings, U.S. Department of State Warnings, or any specific exclusions related to COVID-19. Therefore, COVID-19 is covered just like any other new medical condition that occurs after the effective date of the policy. Please note that if you already have symptoms, or if you are already infected and still in the incubation period, or even asymptomatic initially, if you contracted COVID-19 before the effective date of the policy, it will NOT be covered. If you still have doubts, please contact us and we will be able to provide you further information.

Is COVID-19 testing covered?

Testing is covered only if it is a new sickness after the effective date of the policy, it is medically necessary, and physician prescribes it. Voluntary testing is not covered.

I purchased travel insurance but it has expired. Can I purchase additional insurance from you?

Yes. You can do that even if you are already in the U.S. Additionally, the next time you are planning to visit the U.S., consider purchasing it again from us as most of the travel medical insurance plans we have available are extendable.

What does travel insurance cover?

Travel insurance is short-term medical insurance that would generally cover any medical conditions, injuries or accidents, that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It is primarily designed to cover unexpected and primarily new medical conditions that may usually occur to a person who is traveling abroad. In some plans, it may cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions that occur after the effective date of the policy up to some amount for the persons up to some age. However, it does not cover pre-existing conditions, maternity, preventive checkups, routine visits related to pre-existing conditions, cosmetic surgery, elective surgery, birth control, immunization, dental, vision and so on.

What is the difference between Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage?

Trip Cancellation is designed to provide you coverage in the event that you have to cancel your trip for a valid reason prior to your departure. The plan will reimburse you your pre-paid non-refundable portion of your trip cost. Trip Interruption is designed to provide you coverage in the event that you need to return home from your trip early due to covered reasons such as a house fire or the death of a close relative. The plan will help you pay for the additional expenses to make arrangements to return home early.
