Shutter Speed

Shutter speeds designate the length of an exposure in fractions of a second. A shutter speed of 1/30 second or slower usually results in blur of a moving object. A shutter speed of 1/500 second or faster is generally used for most sports photography. Hand-holding a camera at a shutter speed slower than 1/30 second may result in camera blur.
