Can I bring my own alcohol on a Viking Ocean cruise? ›

Guests may bring alcohol and beverages with them, purchase alcohol ashore at destinations that sell alcohol, or purchase them from the onboard shop. Alcohol can be consumed in the guest's stateroom or in public spaces, including the restaurants. There is no corkage fee.

Each stateroom is equipped with a minibar. Your stateroom category will determine whether your minibar is replenished daily with drinks and snacks. Purified water is provided in all staterooms and refilled daily. A full listing of amenities by stateroom category can be found on each ship page.

Dressing for dinner is more casual in Viking river dining rooms than Viking Ocean dining rooms. Neat jeans ok, very few (if any) men wear jackets.

Gratuities: Viking Cruise prices do not include gratuities. A service charge of $15 will be automatically added every day per guest, which you can see in your shipboard account. You are very much welcome to tip over these charges for the staff, including the dining staff, stateroom attendant, and your program director.

While cruise ships don't typically have the scanning technology you'll find at airports, you'll still have your luggage scanned and need to walk through an X-ray machine. This machine can detect any liquids you may be carrying on your person, meaning you can't hide any small bottles of alcohol in your pockets!

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board with the following exception - at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring one 750-ml bottle of sealed/unopened wine or champagne, per person, in their carry-on luggage.* Outside this exception, ...

With Viking, there are no hidden fees. One price covers most everything—port charges, Wi-Fi, meals, lectures, activities and shore excursions—plus hotel accommodations on cruisetours.

There are no “formal nights” in the evening; evening dress is “elegant casual” for all dining venues, performances and special events. On these occasions, required attire for ladies includes a dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse; for gentlemen, trousers and a collared shirt.

Do Viking Cruises provide toiletries? ›

All stateroom bathrooms are equipped with premium bath toiletries. A hair dryer is also provided, and laundry and pressing services are available.

While serving times can vary depending upon excursions and cruise schedules, they are generally: Breakfast: 7:00 AM–9:30 AM. Lunch: 12:00 PM–2:00 PM. Dinner: 7:00 PM.

Room Service: Passengers can order room service at any hour, any day. The menu, which is complimentary, includes lox, pasta, burgers, poached salmon and chicken as well as desserts and a cheese plate.

Shore Excursions

Viking expeditions offer a variety of excursions so you can experience your destination in the way that most interests you. Virtually all activities are included in your fare in order to ensure you maximize your discoveries.

All liquor, beer, other forms of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages outside of the exceptions referenced above are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked luggage and such items will be confiscated and discarded and no compensation will be provided.

Most cruise lines allow you to carry on a bottle of wine or two, but they often forbid passengers from bringing additional beer, liquor or other alcoholic beverages on board. Duty-free alcohol can be purchased on most ships but it is usually stored by the crew and returned to passengers at the end of their cruise.

Guests may also bring non-alcoholic beverages as carry-on items on boarding day. Non-alcoholic beverages may not exceed 12 standard (17 oz.) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom. Milk and distilled water brought on for infant, medical, or dietary use are permitted.
