Gangwon Hosts First Winter Youth Games in Asia
The fourth Winter Youth Games will take place January 19 – February 1, 2024 at arenas throughout Gangwon State, namely in Gangneung, Pyeongchang, Hoengseong, and Jeongseon. Following six years after the success of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games, Korea has the honor of hosting the first Winter Youth Games in Asia. Over 1,900 youth athletes from 80 countries will compete in the Games in a range of winter sports, including short track speed skating, figure skating, and bobsleigh. The Games will kick off on January 19 with opening ceremonies held jointly at Gangneung Oval and Pyeongchang Dome. Excluding the opening ceremony at Gangneung, all of the sporting events are free.
