Launched in February 1999 in New York, Red Label was youthful in ethos, often promoting a number of human rights causes close to Westwood's heart. Having showed at London Fashion Week since 2009, for Autumn/Winter 2016 it was announced that Red Label would no longer be produced as part of a restructuring of the Vivienne Westwood company.

Westwood still designs under her own name, while her husband Andreas Kronthaler designs for sister company Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood.
