As of November 11, 2023*,the automatic service gratuity of$18.00 USD per person, per day for guests in non-suites staterooms and Junior Suite, or $20.50 USD per person, per day for guests in Suites, will be applied to each guest’s SeaPass account on a daily basis. The gratuity applies to individual guests of all ages and stateroom categories. As a way to reward our crew members for their outstanding service, gratuities are shared among dining,bar& culinary services staff, stateroom attendants and other hotel services teams who work behind the scenes to enhance the cruise experience.
In the unlikely event that a guest onboard being charged the daily automatic gratuity does not receive satisfactory service, the guest may request to modify the daily amount at their discretion by visiting Guest Services onboard and will be able to do so until the morning of their departure. Guests who have pre-paid their gratuity will not see a daily charge during their cruise.
The automatic daily gratuity is based on customary industry standards. Applying this charge automatically helps streamline the recognition process for the crew members who work to enhance your cruise. Guests can pre-pay gratuities by calling 866-562-7625 before the sailing. Guests booked through travel advisors, need to contact their advisor to add pre-paid gratuities to the booking prior to sailing**. If gratuities are not prepaid prior to sailing, they will be automatically added to the guests’ folios once onboard.
*Guests who have already prepaid their gratuities will not be impacted by this change. Guests who plan to pay onboard, will be charged the new rate starting November 11, 2023.
**Pre-paid gratuities can be added to an individual reservation up to 48 hours before the sail date.

Prepaying gratuities can help you relax onboard as you don't get the daily gratuities added to every purchase you make. Hence, your bill does not go higher with the added gratuities onboard. With price fluctuations becoming common, prepaying the gratuities will save you from paying extra onboard.
What happens if you don't prepay gratuities? If you don't choose to prepay gratuities, they will likely be added to your onboard account when you sail. Of course, gratuities are not mandatory, and you can ask to have them removed from your statement, usually by visiting the guest services desk.
However, most cruise lines are based in the U.S., where the crew members' pay structure is based on tips. If you refuse to tip on principle, you are impacting the salaries of the people who have served you well onboard.
For most, prepaying gratuities is a great way to keep track of your overall cruise budget. If they're paid for and out of the way, you won't accidentally spend your gratuity money while onboard or in port or receive a large(r) bill at the end of the sailing.
Unless you are on an all-inclusive ship that covers the majority of gratuities in the cruise fare, such as luxury cruise lines Azamara, Seabourn, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Virgin Voyages, it is recommended that you tip the crew.
If you have not prepaid gratuities and the service charges show up on your onboard bill, you can go to guest services before the sailing ends and request to have the amounts altered or removed.
Passengers can change the daily amount or opt out of gratuities altogether until the morning of departure. Some passengers interested in removing gratuities want to do so in order to reward crew members individually with cash tips. Others, unfortunately, want to avoid paying an extra charge.
Many cruise lines will tack an automatic gratuity charge onto the bill for extra-fee drinks, restaurant meals and spa treatments. The included tip amount varies by cruise line but is typically 15% to 20% of the bill.
