What To Wear In Vegas | 40+ Las Vegas Outfits For Every Occasion (2024)

Congratulations, you’re going to Vegas! Now, what to wear?

Clubs, pools, restaurants – there’s just so much to do in Vegas! But the word of caution: establishments, restaurants, and clubs have a slightly more strict dress code than anywhere in the US.

People are particular about how they dress and how others present themselves in Las Vegas. If you find yourself wanting to tour the Vegas strip or eat at a nice restaurant, toss the informality – because they might just not let you in.

That is not to discourage you from coming to Vegas at all. The fact that they praise a bit of dress-up is a chance for you to wear your best clothes in a different city without judgment!

When you’re in Las Vegas, it isn’t only about the style but more about the appropriateness of what you wear. When thinking about what to put on, you must consider these three important factors:

  • The time you’re visiting or going out
  • The season/current weather in Las Vegas
  • What kind of establishment you’re going to

The time and season you’re visiting or going out should tell you what level of formality you should consider.

Ideally, I wouldn’t recommend going out in shorts during the nighttime, but I know how warm it can be during the summer months. If that is the case, bring a pair of shorts you can dress up.

The establishment should also determine whether you should wear sandals or heels, a sundress, or a co*cktail dress. Typically, a fine dining restaurant has certain dress codes, so it is best to look out for that before heading out.

Today I’ll be covering what to wear in Vegas for every single occasion! I’ll also include a bunch of Las Vegas outfits and ideas to get your wheels turning.

What To Wear In Las Vegas During The Day:

Here are some of the pieces you’ll definitely want to bring for your daytime Las Vegas outfits.

Lightweight Top

A lightweight top is one of the essential items that you should bring with you during a vegas trip. They keep you from sweating excessively or give you an extra to change into after doing all those touristy poses.

A favorite white tee is good enough – just add a knot for a stylish twist. Wear it with a maxi skirt, jeans, or flowy culottes. To make it less plain, add a nice printed neck shawl.

Jeans

A pair of jeans is a definite lifesaver – especially if you’re packing light! My advice is to bring about two pairs of jeans in two colors: denim and black.

Denim can be paired with a flowy, feminine top for a casual coffee date or a stroll in the daytime. Black jeans are more versatile, you can wear it for a work/client meeting, a brunch date, or for bar hopping in Old Town Vegas during the night.

Just like a lightweight tee, you need a pair of jeans regardless of the weather, time, and season you plan to visit Las Vegas.

Shorts

Now, I said this earlier: you can’t wear shorts in formal establishments like fine dining restaurants, where you’re safer wearing jeans or a maxi. But in warm months, the heat of the sun can become really harsh and you’ll need a pair of shorts to walk the streets during the noon for sure.

Maxi Skirt

If shorts are not your jam, you can go with a longer (but chic) option like a maxi skirt. A maxi skirt, paired with a knotted tee, a sun hat, and wedge heels can easily make a great outfit for a brunch out. It’s also airy and flowy, so you don’t have to worry about sweating your bottom half.

Sundress

A sundress is great for those lazy mornings after a crazy night in the club. You just put it on and you instantly look like you have everything together.

Plus, it’s a great piece to wear when you’re recovering from a night out. A sundress is also great for going on a sightseeing trip and posing for the ‘gram!

Rompers

A romper is also a great alternative to a sundress. You can put on a whole outfit together in one go. Just add a few accessories, like a scarf, a piece of jewelry, or a statement belt, and you’re good to go.

The thing with rompers is that they are versatile – you can decide to dress it up or down depending on your preference.

White Slip-On Sneakers

White slip-on sneakers are the best travel buddies that one should at least have in their pack. There are a lot of generic brands like Macy’s and Walmart selling these types of sneakers and they are probably all over your local market. They’re lightweight and they look good with just about anything from t-shirts, rompers, to dresses.

If white Chucks or Vans sneakers are more accessible to you, feel free to bring those instead.

Heeled Boots

A pair of heeled ankle or knee-high boots is a great way to elevate your outfit in the fall and winter months. They don’t necessarily have to be high-heeled, but a bit of height can give you a nice posture, which in turn can show in your photos.

Feel free to skip this part if you’re going to Vegas in the summer!

Wedges

Wedges may not be allowed in the club or fine dining restaurants, but a pair of these come in handy during the day! They turn any look into a travel chic style. I especially love going for espadrille style wedges because they add a “fresh” touch to my look.

Sandals

If you’re not the type to wear heeled shoes during the day, I recommend getting a pair of feminine sandals. Espadrilles, ribbon-style, and strappy sandals go on the list. Normally, I would stray away from ordinary slippers (like flip-flops) to avoid looking sloppy.

Bathing Suits

Who wouldn’t bring a bathing suit to Vegas? Even if you’re not planning a pool trip or a beach party, you can’t leave for Vegas without a bathing suit. Dig into current bathing suit trends because your Las Vegas outfits should definitely be on the edgy/trendy side!

Kimono

A kimono is a stylish way to add a cover-up in-between pool sessions. This can also keep you from being cold while off water. You’re likely to need a Kimono or a cover-up if ever spontaneous plans to eat at a nearby restaurant come up. Alternatively, you can wear a lacey cover-up or a poncho instead.

Sun Hat

Las Vegas is a great place for sightseeing, but the sun can be a bit harsh during the warm months. To keep your face from being sunburned (trust me, it’s not pretty), always bring a raffia sunhat with you. This can also add a touristy feel to your outfits, which is a huge plus!

Sunglasses

Do not forget your sunglasses too! A pair of sunglasses will not just protect a portion of your face, it can also avoid potential migraines from being flashed by the heat of the sun. This comes handy both in pool trips and in sightseeing activities.

Sweater or Coat

A nice safety coat or light jacket is the best way to get through a cold day in Las Vegas. Take note that although Vegas is warm all year round, temperatures can slightly dive down during the winter.

Las Vegas Outfits For A Pool Party

A pool party is one of the most common events in Vegas. You’re probably going to be invited to a daytime pool party or an evening dip.

To complement the Vegas vibe, you will want something flashy and fun, like a printed cover-up over a cute black swimsuit or a vibrant-colored one-piece. Vegas women tend to keep their hair and make-up done even if the pool is just a few meters away.

Outfits For Walking The Vegas Strip

The Vegas strip is a popular tourist go-to that you and your friends are sure to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for something to eat, drink, or simply have local “hands-on” experience, there is something for you in this area. Walking the Vegas strip during the day is the best time to take sunny pictures with a co*cktail in a take-out cup on hand.

Ideally, you would want to wear something airy but stylish to look good in pictures. A lightweight top like a knotted t-shirt, a flowy maxi or midi skirt, and white sneakers is great outfit for walking along the strip during the day. Alternatively, you can wear a romper over a crop top if you’re not feeling the skirt.

Outfits for a work trip in Vegas

Going for a work trip in Vegas? Don’t stress it out. You can still look on-theme even if you’re not in Vegas like most visitors are there for.

The most important concept that you should take note of is the fact that Las Vegas is a highly extroverted city. You can embrace that energy by wearing something that screams confidence, fun, and yet professional.

You can start with black fitted trousers, a nicely pressed blouse, and a fitted blazer, paired with close-toed heels. You may also wear something short-heeled while at work and change to something higher if ever you and your co-workers plan to go out at night for a special dinner.

What To Wear In Vegas During The Nighttime

Wondering what to wear in Vegas for a night out? Here are some of my favorite pieces that you absolutely need for your nighttime Las Vegas oufits.

Body Suit

Bodysuits are chic, stylish, and sexy. You can wear it over black jeans for a sleek silhouette or go with a feminine look with a pencil skirt. You can easily dress this up or down, depending on the occasion. Bodysuits are also dance-floor friendly as they do not easily come off. They are also versatile and you can use them during the day if you wish.

Heels

Wearing high stilettos for a night in Vegas can be really tempting, but if you’re not particularly used to heels, I would recommend wearing nothing beyond 3 inches. If you think you can handle it, then, by all means, go wear it! Just make sure you bring heels – because nothing else can elevate an evening look than with a pair of heels!

Foldable Flats

Foldable flats are not what you wear first thing in the evening, but maybe a lifesaver when the party or the event is over. Walking back to your hotel can be much of work if your feet have already started throbbing and/or having blisters. Keep your pain to a minimum and slide in a pair of foldable flats to your purse.

Crossbody Bag

A handy crossbody bag is ideally the best practical accessory that you should add to your evening look. If you’re not going to a formal event like a wedding or a work conference, the best option is to bring a bag that you can keep close even with your hands off it. You will be moving a lot if you’re partying, and it’s just risky to put your purse down even for a second.

Dainty Jewelry

Of course, to add a little magical touch to your evening look, you can’t miss putting on a bit of jewelry. Simple stud earrings and a dainty necklace are good enough to add some sparkle. Try to stray away from layered jewelry if you plan to go clubbing.

Outfits For Eating Out At Vegas Restaurants

Vegas restaurants have a certain dress code, so don’t try coming in with a sloppy, casual fit! Stray away from jeans or anything with sweats. Keep it fancy with a co*cktail dress or a romper, with a nice pair of heels. If you plan to go clubbing, you might want to wear something flexible like a romper. Don’t forget to bring your foldable flats in case!

Las Vegas Outfits For Clubbing

Clubbing is one of the most popular activities to do in Vegas and it is unlike any other experience in other states.

When you’re in Vegas at night, your main goal is to look flashy but classy. Avoid anything made of cotton or anything casual, like a t-shirt. Show up your best and flaunt your curves! This is the best time to wear a sexy V-neck jumpsuit or a sparkly sequined dress.

Las Vegas Outfits For Casinos

Just like the movies. Yes – dress like it!

Vegas casinos are not like your typical casinos. They’re world-class and sophisticated.

I don’t want to sound snooty, but when you’re at a casino like this, dress like you have the money. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you should put on your most expensive dress, but more like dressing elegant, sparkly, and classy. A classic long black dress with sparkly jewelry, an elegant silky emerald gown, or a sequined co*cktail dress are your best bets.

Outfits For Partying At Vegas Concerts

Try to consider the venue that you’re going to, the time of night, and the type of concert to determine how fancy you should dress. You want to match the general dress code that the venue follows but still look trendy.
