Some tourist finds it difficult to figure out what makes an individual stand out in the classy Milanese fashion and style. Here is my guide on what to wear on your visit to Milan for different seasons throughout the year.
It is possible to fit in the Milan outfit and style without compromising your comfort and class. Here are some sensational ideas on what you can pack and wear as you visit Milan.

DON’T wear sneakers. In Milan, it is even difficult to spot anyone with sneakers and if any, they are only two brands which are Superga and Hogan. However, they are not worn with visible socks.
DO wear sandals. As you pack you can comfortably take along a pair of sandals and flats. However, not the recognizable brands of ‘Comfort’ and Birkenstocks.
DON’T dress up in shorts. You will certainly not see any local lady wearing shorts. For the men, also don’t wear cargo shorts or pants. The locals also don’t get along with pedal pushers. It is easier for the locals to spot you in this wear and identify you as a visitor.
DO park lightweight pants and blouses. You can comfortably dress up in your lightweight pants and blouses, especially in the summer when the climate favors you. Bring along your sundresses and oversized sunglasses with normal fingernails which are not extra long.
Men DON’T wear sandals. The dress-up for men is not as complicated as ladies’ wear but there are also a few tips for men. The men don’t generally wear socks and mostly wear loafers.
Men DO keep it simple in lightweight cotton slacks of commonly blue or beige color. Milanese men also dress up in pressed baby-blue or white shirts in the summers and you can leave it un-tucked and probably roll up the sleeves.
DON’T carry along your hats. Especially in the city, you will not find anyone in hats more specifically those of hiking and baseball versions.
What to wear in each Season in Milan
Having looked at some of the rules for dressing along the streets of Milan, it is important to note that each season also requires different attires according to the weather.
What to Wear in Milan for Summer

During the summer the temperatures range from 25°C – 31°C/77°F-88°F. With this weather, you are guaranteed balmy sunny days that can be quite suffocating. Summer is experienced 1st of June to the 13th of September with the hottest month of the year being July.
Although the sun is scorching, locals never show a lot of skin. Therefore, go for breezy white cotton and floral frock sundress with mix-and-match pieces.
Avoid thick fabric including denim which is too heavy for the summer. If you are going for a mini skirt with a crop top, put on a thin duster cardigan over the top.
Accessories are fabulous in summer which is time to show off. Carry along your floppy hat: go for the straw one to protect from the scorching sun, together with cat-eye sunglasses and stylish cross-body bags.
Go for comfortable shoes, especially high-quality leather strappy sandals.
What to wear in Milan in Spring

By March the spring season takes in with the temperatures raging around 14°C – 17°C/ 48°F – 63°F. The weather takes a turn from rainy and cold to bright and sunny days. However, it is possible to experience some rain showers, I could advise you to carry your umbrella on hand because the weather is unpredictable.
Wear sleek dark denim, tailored trousers, and leather leggings as the temperatures are fresh. One of the classy outfits in the summer would be a classic denim jacket, or traditional khaki trench, or a lightweight leather jacket.
As much as the weather can be a bit sporadic, and you don’t have to wear heavy jackets, it is advisable to carry some layering options just to be comfortable.
Wear a skirt and dress with low heel ankle bootie or motorcycle boots. High heels may be quite uncomfortable walking for miles. Also, pack some tights, especially for cooler evenings.

The winter weather is quite chilly and foggy with the temperature hovering from as low as 3°C to 7°C/ 37°F – 45°F. The winter is unforgiving, especially in December and January. In February it is milder with average temperatures of 6°C – 7°C/ 43°F – 52°F.
With this weather, it is necessary to pack heavyweight clothes. Match Sweaters, simple shells, and blouses with the flexible high waist style which is very fashionable and unique. Go for a sweater made from merino wool or cashmere which is a stylish and a good choice for the classy
Classy wool is a must-wear in Milan to keep you warm. The coat can be of simple or versatile style so that it is comfortable throughout the trip. The most fashionable aspect of the coats is faux-firm trim with a belt that is flattering.
Go for off-shoulders style, chic bell-sleeves, wide boat neck, or interesting tier. Most importantly the layering pieces are a must-have in the winter season. They offer more comfort and versatility to your outfit without feeling outstanding.
What to Wear in Milan in Autumn
In this season you can expect a temperature of around 18°C/65°F in September which gets cooler in October to 15°C/ 59°F and 12°C/53°F in November. During the night the temperatures can get quite lower. Pack some tights to wear with a dress, especially on colder nights.
You will need some sweaters and jackets to cater for the chilly nights both light and heavyweight. You can choose from a wool coat or discreet parka of Khaki, black, grey, or maroon.
A scarf is a must-wear in Milan. Pack along one or two neutral colors, either black or grey that will match most of your outfit during your stay. However, avoid a single-color outfit and go for velvet pants, a fascinating handbag that fits with bold colors and jewel-toned colors.
