Unless your office dress code is casual (not business casual, but casual), I would not wear the popular two-strap shoes, here. The two-strap is generally too casual to wear with business casual or business formal clothes. A good rule of thumb is whether you can wear sandals (flat or heeled) to work.

In a business casual office, athletic shoes and sneakers, loafers, clogs, leather boat shoes, and dress heels or flats are acceptable and may be worn with or without tights or stockings as the weather dictates. Avoid wearing flip-flops, sandals, slippers, open-toed shoes, or eye-catching, blingy footwear to the office.

Slingbacks are perfect for work! Definitely an appropriate choice. I briefly touched on the topic of slingback heels in my article, The Dos and Don'ts of Heels in the Office. Most of my advice in the article addressed straying from heels with sparkle, platforms, spikes, and too much viewing room for your toes (lol).
Is it professional to wear mules to work?
They're okay for office if you pick a more polished version of the shoe, and you style it with a minimal smart outfit, such as a version of the power suit for example, or a smart shirt dress. You know the mules, the 90s square heel shoes? Yeah.
Under no circumstances should you wear open-toed shoes to an interview. Even if they are nice dress sandals, some people disapprove of open-toed shoes in the office, and you won't know if your interviewer is one of these people until it's too late.
