It's basically a saline solution with phosphoric acid added. It's totally safe. If you go to a tattoo shop and get a piercing, you are told to clean with salt water.
The following products will irritate the new tissue, delay healing and SHOULD BE AVOIDED: Antibacterial soap, Bactine, Tea Tree, Witch Hazel, Ear cleaning solution, Peroxide, Alcohol, Antibiotic ointments.
Your piercer will recommend a saline rinse to use at least twice per day. You may also consider using your own DIY sea salt rinse, or even tea tree oil if your nose is especially tender. You'll also want to make sure you leave the original jewelry in place until the piercing heals.

Can you change a nose ring after 3 weeks?
The healing process isn't bad; it's a wound and you have to make sure to protect it, but it's only tiny, so it's not a big deal. After the first 4 weeks, you are allowed to change your piercing and wear a ring or a different stud, but make sure that once you have taken out the old one, you put the new one in asap!

Don't twist or push your piercing around. Your skin will not grow attached to the piercing, that's a fallacy. In fact twisting, pulling, or pushing the piercing will irritate and slow the healing process, not to mention introducing the risk of infection.
The outer opening of the piercing is best treated using liquid antibacterial soap or Bactine. If the liquid soap is too harsh it may be diluted 50/50 with water (avoid perfumed products). Apply liberally with a cotton swab or Q-tip.

A person can dissolve ⅛ to ¼ of a teaspoon of sea salt in 1 cup of warm distilled or bottled water, rinse the piercing with the solution, then gently pat it dry. People should be sure to wash the hands thoroughly beforehand to lower the risk of infection.
Use Sterile Saline Spray such as NeilMed Wound Wash or Arm & Hammer Nasal Spray to clean and irrigate your piercing. Spray 1-2 times a day directly on your piercing. (If the spray is not strong enough to get off crusties, gently clean off them with non-woven gauze or clean paper towel.)
