Can adopted children be royal?
The British law now extends exactly the same rights to adopted children as to natural children, and no exception is made for royalty or other hereditary titles.
"Adopted children would not have succession rights or a title," Marlene Koenig, the internationally recognized expert on British and European royalty behind the website Royal Musings, explains. "To have succession rights, you have to be a Protestant descendant of the Electress Sophia."

Thus, adopted children cannot inherit titles from their adoptive parents, but still remain eligible to inherit such titles from their birth parents, if legitimately born 102 (while all other legal relationship with their natural parents in severed).

A duke's eldest son and heir is often a marquess, though he can also be an earl, viscount, or baron. The title given to the heir is a lesser title of the peer, usually the next highest peerage he holds.
Which twin would become king?
In terms of inheriting the British throne, the same rule applies to twins as to single children – the firstborn inherits. Even if the first child is only minutes older than the younger, he or she still takes the prize.
But until 2011, any daughter born to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would not have enjoyed an equal right to inherit the British throne. Rules dating back centuries decree that the crown passes to the eldest son and is only bestowed on a daughter when there are no sons.

If she were to abdicate, it could be interpreted that being queen is a job to be done, as opposed to the state of her existence to be embraced. In fact, some close to the Queen have said that Elizabeth could “never abdicate” by virtue of age or otherwise.

The Queen and Military Appointments
Under the Queen's regulations for the Army, Navy and Air Force, the Monarch is responsible for making a large number of appointments to senior military posts.
In cases where the widow of a childless king or nobleman is pregnant at the time of his death, the next-in-line is not permitted to assume the throne or title, but must yield place to the unborn child, or ascends and reigns (in the case of a monarch) or succeeds (in the case of a peer) until the child is born.

Looking at the current royal family, it is completely void of any twins. Looking a little further back to Queen Elizabeth II's father King George VI's reign, again no twins feature.
