Simply put, a pressure sensitive vinyl (PSV) is a vinyl that has adhesive applied to the back and rides on a liner until it is applied to hard, smooth surfaces through gentle applied pressure.
Printable vinyl is a permanent craft vinyl that you can print on using your home printer. What kind of printable vinyl you get really depends on the brand. For example, Cricut printable vinyl are temporary, while Htvront Vinyl offers printable permanent vinyl.
Applying permanent vinyl on a surface only requires the use of transfer tape and not heat.
Is Siser permanent vinyl better than oracal 651?
The Bottom Line. If you're looking for the best permanent vinyl for your Cricut, choose Siser EasyPSV, which will last you up to 5 years. If they don't have the color you're looking for, look at Oracal 651 which lasts up to 6 years. If you need a matte, choose Oracal 641 (6 years).

Inkjet and laser printers are the two main types of printers used for printing on printable vinyl. Inkjet printers use liquid ink to produce high-quality images with rich colors. They are a popular choice for photo printing, and many models offer the ability to print borderless photos and have a high resolution.
Load the printable vinyl paper into the printer's tray, so the print side (non-adhesive side) is face up. Set your printer to a high-quality print mode and hit the print button in your image editing software. Use clear vinyl printer paper if you want the background of your stickers to be transparent.
The best thing about using your printer with vinyl sheets is that you don't need special ink. Make sure you have full ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer model and you're ready to start printing your designs.
Printable vinyl is different from the HTV and adhesive vinyl. Both HTV and adhesive vinyl need a cutting machine to create a design. The printable vinyl, on the other hand, uses a printer to create a design.

Also, this printable vinyl paper is available in regular letter size and can be used both indoors and outdoors because of its water resistance. Even better, it's appropriate for wall stickers, photo stickers, vinyl writing, and many more applications.
To be able to sublimate on vinyl it needs to be a permanent vinyl (not removable) and either white or clear. It can be glossy or matte, that doesn't make a difference. Some of the types I've tried sublimation on and had good success with: Starcraft HD.
With a Sawgrass sublimation printer you can print directly onto EasySubli and then cut around the image, but Siser EasySubli - which is basically sublimation HTV - can't be fed into an Epson printer and printed on directly which means you have to take several extra steps.
Can you print directly on heat transfer vinyl?
Printable HTV is the easiest way to achieve multi-color graphics on your garment. Print images using a standard inkjet printer or a sublimation printer and transfer them onto dark or light t-shirts, sweatshirts, mouse pads, leather, and other garments.
Keep in mind that an inkjet heat transfer paper is only compatible to inkjet printers and laser heat transfer paper is only compatible to laser printers. To use an inkjet heat transfer paper in a laser printer can result to paper burning as the paper is not designed to withstand laser heat.
Printable heat transfer vinyl is a fantastic way to print your own heat transfers to make shirts, bags, and other fun projects with eye-popping, multi-colored designs without having to go through the process of layering vinyl.
Basically, PSV is a print substrate that has an adhesive on the back.
Record has a clear “sheen” when you look at the reflection of the light in the grooves. If you've bought much new vinyl, you know what this looks like - smooth and slick. You should expect to see more minor blemishes on a used record, but the way it reflects the light will indicate how worn-down the grooves are.
Vinyl Grading System
Mint (M) – Absolutely perfect in every way. Never been played and usually sealed. Near Mint (NM) – The record has been on a shelf between other records. The vinyl looks glossy and clearly has only been played a few times.
Inadequate pressure is one of the biggest reasons why HTV peels off shirts. Using a pressing pillow when pressing HTV onto shirts in a heat press helps provide more even and consistent pressure for better results.
With proper care of your garment (wash inside out on a cool wash, dry inside out on a washing line and iron inside out - no tumble drying or dry cleaning) the manufacturer recommends around 50 washes for the vinyl heat transfers, which do eventually crack and fade.
You do not have to have an electronic cutting machine to work with vinyl. You can always cut your vinyl by hand using a pair of scissors or craft knife. In fact, one of my favorite vinyl projects that my kids and I did together was entirely cut by hand.
You can place permanent vinyl on surfaces like glass, metal, plastic, acrylic, painted wood, or even notebooks. Permanent vinyl cannot be used on fabrics. That's what heat transfer vinyl is for. If you plan to apply adhesive vinyl on glass doors or car windows, make sure you want it there permanently.
Do you need transfer paper for permanent vinyl?
Note: Standard transfer tape is recommended. Make sure your project surface is clean and dry. Carefully place the transfer tape with vinyl images onto your surface how you would like them to appear.
Only 2.5 mils thick, ORACAL 651 offers six year outdoor durability, flexibility, thermal print compatibility.
The big difference between permanent and removable vinyl is their permanence and the strength of the adhesive contained. Removable vinyl has weaker adhesive and permanent vinyl has stronger adhesive. So the next time you have craft projects, you already know which kind of vinyl to use.

Adhesive vinyl comes in all kinds of colours and finishes, but it always has a paper backing and is sticky to the touch when that backing is peeled off. Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV), on the other hand, does not have a paper backing.
Using parchment paper for heat press works perfectly fine with fabric surfaces and vinyl. There's really no difference between this paper and Teflon.
This usually happens due to a lack of pressure at the time of pressing. We usually adjust the time and temperature correctly but increase the pressing time if the HTV doesn't stick. Instead, we should increase the pressure. The heat press works by adjusting the time, temperature, and pressure.
Premium vinyl is adhesive vinyl, like a sticker, it is either permanent or removable. Thus, it is best used for smooth surfaces but is not advisable to be used on fabrics or any piece of clothing. Premium vinyl may initially adhere to the clothing, but it won't hold up when washed and may peel off.
If you are doing ANY kind of iron-on project (whether it be with iron on vinyl, infusible ink, etc), you will need an iron or a standard heat press.
