Do lumberjacks use axes?
While lumberjack axes have mostly been replaced by chainsaws and other heavy machinery in forestry, the lumberjack tradition is still alive and well in competitions. It's a true test of skill and endurance, as chopping through big pieces of wood as fast as possible is no easy task.
The broadaxe, as its name denotes, is a large-headed axe used for digging deep into lumber with minimal swinging. There are other types of axes that lumberjacks may use for different purposes, but the felling, splitting, and broadaxe types of tools are the most common axes used for industrial wood chopping.
Axes are a great counter to a weapon which is good at both: the longsword. A longsword is a fair bit chunkier than a rapier so its point, while nimble, is relatively easier to catch. Also, having more mass and two hands, it's generally very good at the bind. The axe is a good counter to these strengths.
Axes are very dangerous in inexperienced hands. A saw could chop a finger at worst, but an axe could cut your foot off and cause deadly bleeding. The longer the axe the safer it is to handle. If you are cutting a branch off a tree, the higher your cuts are the more dangerous they are.
Chainsaws, harvesters, and feller bunchers are now used to cut or fell trees. The tree is turned into logs by removing the limbs (delimbing) and cutting it into logs of optimal length (bucking). The felled tree or logs are moved from the stump to the landing.
Answer: The blade of an axe is made up of iron because the iron is a sharp metal. If the iron is replaced by wood, the sharpness would be gone because iron is particularly a stronger metal than wood. Therefore, the axe could no longer be of use.

Chopping With An Axe: If you're using an axe, then start with a 45 degree angle chop (to create a notch) on the side that you plan for the tree to call. Continue to chop in 45 degree angle chops, with each chop opposite each other. Continue this until you're about a third of the way through the tree.

Member. They do break it faster I fought a dude with an axe for the same time as u would with a sword and my armour when down to red when if I fought with a sword or would still be green.
Axes were the weapon of choice for the common Viking warrior who could not afford to carry a sword into battle.
